Author's Note: At some point all the Sins will meet the Virtues (I'm sure you can guess how pairing will go), but I haven't actually gotten around to writing those meetings yet. In fact, I've mostly just been trying to get to know the characters. So I figured I'd let you all get to know them the way I have. Feel free to request drabbles about any of the characters.
Summary: In which Ace escapes to sleep when his parents fight.
The shouting started early. He didn’t know what had started them off this time, but Acedia was beginning to realize that by now, his parents needed no reason. Ace climbed into bed. If he simply went to bed now, maybe they wouldn’t yell at him to do so later.
Ace knew how things worked. He’d hear his parents yelling before they realized he was one room over. Then, they’d come and send him to bed where he would fall asleep as they resumed their yelling. In the morning, they would pretend nothing had happened. Until they got into another fight.
He turned off his light, plunging the room into darkness as he crawled under the covers.
Everything was quiet when he slept. Everything was peaceful. There was no yelling when he slept; there was no fighting in his dream world. In his dreams, there was no tension, no silent pressure to choose sides.
As he drifted off the sleep, Ace wished, not for the first time, that he could stay in his world of dreams forever.
