LOAD OFF MY FUCKING MIND

I just talked to the man who owns the ranch I live on (in addition to being the owner of the hotel I work for). And dlakjsd lksjdf sdlkfjs dfakljsd ;flkajsd fsdf

Okay. My stepdad was supposed to be taking care of the ranch I live on, doing maintenance and mowing the lawn and junk. And with him in the hospital now (and not having done any of his taking-care-of-the-ranch stuff for months beforehand) I was really worried about my living situation, whether the bossman was going to want to bring in someone new to take care of the place, thus ousting me from my place.

BUT OMFG. It turns out he actually feels rather guilty that my mother drank herself to death down here, and my stepdad was on his way to the same. The thing is, addictive personalities are hard to deal with. And they couldn't handle living down here, and the freedom from a lot of the responsibilities they had in New York, owning and operating a roofing company, for example. And he feels a bit like bringing them down here to work for him is related to their alcoholism. To a point, I suppose it is, but I'm not fool enough to blame anyone but them for their problems.

And anyway. He is just fine with me staying out on the ranch. And was actually worried about me being out there all by my lonesome. And told me that if I ever need anything, all I have to do is ask. Not that I will probably ever ask for anything that isn't necessary for the maintenance of the ranch, but alksdjf ;alsdkjf sdflksjd Also one of his sons is actually going to handle a lot of the more grunt-like work, such as fixing fences and the like, and I'll probably just be mowing the lawn and acting in the more managerial role of keeping track of what needs fixing.

Best part. I have permission to get the golf cart and lawnmower fixed. (The lawnmower still works, but one of the tires has a leak so it needs to be filled every time I go to mow the lawn.) It'll be really freaking awesome not having to walk around 100 acres of pasture though. (Not that I have been walking around 100 acres of pasture; I have been neglecting the back pastures bc I cannot be arsed to walk that far.)

However. This makes me think I ought to invest in a cowboy hat, and I'm not sure how I feel about the impulse.
