i am: present and accounted for
listening to: pc hum in a minor
drinking: peach cranberry juice

so, i've been coding merrily along and practically spraining my arm by attempting to pat myself on the back for the progress i've made with my site redesign over the past week. yesterday i was especially pleased with myself because i'd finished the last big section and had moved on to reworking the small illustrative photos featured on the internal pages. i was flying! hurrah! thinking i'd beat my self-created deadline of being ready to upload by mid-december by a couple of weeks. and then this morning i sat down to pick up where i'd left off with the photos and was suddenly struck by the realization that i'd neglected to recode an entire section in the last phase, which puts me 50+ pages behind where i thought i was yesterday.

did i immediately buckle down and get back to work? no. i pouted. and then i decided to play around with my LJ layout because, since the weather's finally turned, the duck-egg blue and gray have been feeling very stark and chilly. i think i may have gone overboard in the other direction with the buttery yellow, but i'll either get used to it, tone it down or change it.

i've been using this same layout (flexible squares) and custom CSS since before i became a paid member. just swap out the header image, change the hex colors and presto*change-o. i may be doing this more often since discovering all the art released into the public domain at wikimedia commons' yorck project. indeed, i downloaded and went through at least a half dozen images before settling on this one.

and that's me with a gratuitous "i've changed my journal customization" update. hi-ho. hi-ho.

(i'll be so glad when/if ever i have something interesting to type here.)

today's reading: more of shaman's crossing by robin hobb, which i've settled into nicely now.
