I'm testing out a more painterly style as well! I'm trying it out for the ME Secret Santa, it takes some getting used to. Cell shading is so much easier and quicker, having to really stop and think about my color choices and blending. Its times like these I wished I had invested in Painter, since its better suited for that type of art instead of photoshop.

Investing in a tablet is worth it! I've had a wacom intuous tablet for the last 4 years, and it was worth it. Wacom's got a super cheap line of tablets out now, the very cheapest being something like $80.

I know it's supposed to be -- it's the exact opposite for me! Too much untraining required to do cel-shading. I'm coming from oil painting.

ARGGH website is mysteriously down. Links go to picasa album instead. Disclaimer: I painted these back when I was painting every day. I assume I'm much worse, now.

I'm totally sympathetic. I bought this book a few weeks ago, and I'm itching to get painting. (If only I had the proper space to use my oil paints!)

Oooh! Do you read his blog?

I have his Imaginative Realism book, but I haven't got Color and Light yet. It's all so inspiring.

Oil paints, though. You need space, you need a place you can CLEAN, you need to not gas yourself... I cannot WAIT to get my studio done. Too bad that requires making decisions and spending money.

Hey! If/when I finally finish the studio project, I could have an oil painting party. I'm only an hour south down the freeway. :)
