One of them thar five questions memes. Ask and I'll think of random shit insightful questions to ask you! Questions from

Really, as a get-to-know-you excercise, this just shows one very big thing: I hate picking favorites. A favorite thing for a given situation, sure! But a favorite? Can't do it.
1) Who's your favorite ME character, and why?
Wrex. Joker's the one I empathise with the most, and Zaeed is a gift to humor-drabbles everywhere, but there's something so marvelously solid about the worldly-wise krogan. Also, if I had a super-strong giant alien friend I'd ask them to give me airplane rides.
2) Oh no! The world is ending in 24 hours! What wil you do?
I'm a nerd. I put together a team of super heros/crime fighters/mad scientists and we'd STOP it. Combined, our super power is the Pop Culture Reference. I hope that's enough...
3) If you could live anywhere, where would you live?
Oddly enough, I really quite like where I am right now. I'd love to spend a year or so in another country for the experience -- France is at the top of the list, so I could brush off my dusty french skills and hang with people who understand that leisure is more important than work -- but I have a really strong attachment to place, and even stronger attachment to community, so I doubt I'll ever move out of the pacific northwest. My family and my music peeps are here, and I've only grown more attached to it as a place as I've gotten more into native plants and habitat restoration. If I had to move to a bigger city, it'd be Portland or, if I could wrangle it, Vancouver BC.
4) What's your favorite food?
Erik would say potatoes, but they're not my favorite, they're my staple. That and rice. Favorite? Impossible, really. I suppose I could say it's whatever I happen to think of when I'm on mile 20 of a 30 or 40 mile bike ride, 'cause I always end up craving that like whoa. I've had fruit glazed duck in Paris that made me float off my chair; katsudon became my Japanese comfort food; I plunged into fancy cheeses when I read Cheesemonger: My Life on the Wedge; I've been practicing making indian food; and I have a marvelous sweetheart who makes me bacon-wrapped filet mignon. I like food. (Luckily, I also like 40 mile bike rides!)
5) Who's your favorite band?
I suppose Great Big Sea, the band that got me through the tough bits of high school, is the obvious one. I've been listening to them for over ten years, and I've seen them live more often than anyone but the local groups I can see every year. They neatly fit between the traditional music that forms a lot of my life and community and the high energy rock I love to work to.
That said, my musical taste is very eclectic and often situational -- I crave Black Sabbath when Erik and I play pool, I love clever humorists and witty lyrics (I'm seeing TIM MINCHIN live on Friday, W00T!), there's hot swing and cool jazz in my collection, and... well, Great Big Sea is the band that got me through the tough teen bits. But Metallica helped. :P
