LivRS At long last, the first printing! I actually did a better inking job than I expected for a first pressing. Woodblocks soak ink up so the first few inkings tend to give a somewhat "thin" printing. Since this came out so well I didn't have to do multiple proofs.
At this point I like to step back from the work, give the block a few days to dry, and think carefully about any additional carving I might do. Seeing the print and block side by side has convinced me that it needs a companion. Not a mirror image, but something well-balanced to interact with it.
