Hello LJ. It has been a long time. I'm feeling nostalgic and trying to put my brain on something less heavy than what I should be doing.
I've gone as far back through the old friendslist as I can, so I know who still posts, but I have no idea who still reads. To those that do, hi.
I am crazy busy and up to my eyeballs in work, but I'm okay otherwise. Design school is a heavy load, but until I came into this stuff, I hadn't felt the way I do now about having a real place in the world that actually means something. My actions and skills matter to people now, and that's pretty cool.
Here's some of the bigger/hot button things I'm working on:
- A website/promo materials for a design competition hosted by a hip local Urban Planning/Design non-profit as part of my student worker federal aid hours who is likely going to give me a paid summer job
- A smallish multi-piece print job for a really really awesome non-profit org for my Print 1 final, and then a continuation of the collaboration in the Fall, where I'll likely revise their branding, including all their packaging materals
- A small paying photo job this weekend
- Researching out of state firms whose work I admire to focus on hooking an internship at. (antigraphic, what groups in Seattle do cool shit?)
- A twacked out board game for my Package Design final with Barbara Kruger inspired art
- An as yet to be determined video project... need to figure out what the hell I'm going to make into a film... for my video design final
- My personal portfolio site for my Web final
- Fixing the pretty update/past Web project to johnnyfavorite's personal website so that he can actually use it
- A damn clay sculpture. I hate sculpting. : /
Schools out in two weeks. So that list, plus some, is all due in the next two weeks. Ugh. : /
This summer, I'm knocking out a required Speech credit and taking Corporate Design, pretty excited about the latter. Next fall, I'll be in Print 2, Web 2 (user experience/interface focus), Package 2, Advertising 1, and Math.
School pretty much dominates my life, but outside of it, I'm okay.
How are you?
