Three months down, 9 to go!

2009 has been an interesting year so far. I quit my nice, friendly, soul-crushing, yet stable job at the cafe to tackle the pastry chef position at an up-and-coming bakery cafe. I knew it was going to be "an adventure" before I started and was totally comfortable with that. It did not last long. Cock and Balls (my affectionate name for the demon-driven hell-hole) is the first job from which I have actually been fired. It was amusing as hell. An hour after it happened, I already had part-time work lined up at a chocolate shop in town. Within a day, I had a promising interview with the Lindt chocolate store in Princeton. Alas, I am relieved that being the assistant manager there was NOT in the cards, as I really could not think of a single positive thing to say about their truffles, beyond commenting on the pretty wrapper. Anyway, twas not to be and I am infinitely pleased to have found a nearby supermarket at which to ply my trade. Yes, it is boring, but I do have plenty of room for advancement to a job that will be less boring. And I can walk to work. God, I miss that. You don't realize how much time is spent travelling to and fro until you don't have to do it anymore. That's the skinny on work. Life-wise? I'm a happily married woman. I spend most nights curled up on the couch with my husband and my cat. I've made some friends here in Jersey and I get to spend time with them. I have been reading less, but I think that's because I've had stress-brain/ADD syndrome. And now? I'm going to go to bed and snuggle my wonderful husband and fuzzy cat :)
