Whew. My feet hurt. Oww. Dress rehearsal for The King & I from 5-10 PM. Need I say more? Opening night's on Wednesday but I think we're ready. The leads are all amazing, and damn, do I love being onstage. Not only is performing my favorite thing in the world, but this is also a chance for me to whip out my false eyelashes. Unfortunately, I sort of needed to make my hair BLACK for the show, seeing as I'm supposed to be a Siamese woman from the 1800s. Ehh. At least the color will wash out.
'He will not always say
What you would have him say
But now and then he'll say
Something wonderful...'
Even though I don't get to do much in the show this year... as opposed to my solo gyrations in Li'l Abner last year, ha!!... the music is still gorgeous and, once again, false eyelashes!! Eeeeeee.
By the way, I finished my history essay in time to turn it in at 8 AM. The fact that I started writing it at 6 AM is merely trivial. Hmmm...
I felt pretty good all day. Sometimes, when I'm busy like this, it keeps me from thinking about how shitty stuff is. Ohh well. Cass, Erin, and I had an amusing conversation at lunch about this weekend's various endeavors. Too bad all the guys from work who wittnessed me drunk to the point of oblivion were sitting a mere two tables away.
DiNardo overheard me making a comment about 'sex slaves' after 8th period and gave me the funniest look. I couldn't tell if he was offended or amused. But, if that alone offends him, I don't even want to know what the condom advertisement in our AP project will do to his psyche. (PS... after some editing, our slogan is now "Contain your critter before you hit 'er!!", in lieu of the coonskin cap on Brent's head and the stuffed raccoon in his hand when the picture was taken)
OH, and sheeeit, we had the most interesting discussion today in English about transcendentalism. I'm not much into wishy washy utopian ideals like Thoreau and those guys are, but it's fun to see everyone's perspective on the forces that shape our lives. Like, I kept saying how humans are neither inherently good nor evil. Being human means having an intricate mix of good and evil woven into your character. And humans have a choice as to which of those forces is going to dominate their lives. Personally, I think predestination or societal commands to 'triumph over sin' are a bunch of bullshit. Everyone's given a life and they have complete freedom to choose how they're going to spend it. And whether you spend it robbing banks or feeding the hungry, it's your CHOICE. Amen. (hahaha)
So before this black dye soaks even further into my head, causing me to say numerous other incoherent things, I'm going to wash my hair and pretend to do work.
