Sporting News:
Red Sox ownership plan to meet with Pedro & David "Shrek" Ortiz in the Dominican Republic on Wednesday. They say it's to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the opening of the Red Sox baseball academy outside Santo Domingo...but how will they avoid all together talking about contract status with Petey? And things seem to be getting closer with Varitek. I read that the sides are only a couple million dollars apart now. Sounds like Tek is willing to negotiate (or his agent is rather). I believe Tek wants $11 mil/yr and the Sox are offering $9mil/yr. A far cry from the original $55 mil, 5yr, no-trade contract demanded earlier.....I can see paying $9 mil for 4 yrs, maybe $10; I think it'll happen soon (I don't see any other teams wanting to pay an older catcher that much for that long).
Derek Lowe wasn't invited to a World Series championship celebration in his own hometown???!!! Geez, that's embarrassing. The claim was a clerical error. Must have happened when Lowe turned down the Sox offer of $27mil/yr for 3 years this past spring. Blister Boy wants $12mil/yr and 4 years! Good luck Derek.....you'll need it. And what's all the buzz about the Sox going after a Japenese SS/2B?? Won't happen.
Side note: Red Sox claimed RHP Tim Bausher off waivers from the Rockies.
Dawson's Creek News:
Metaphors abound today. So, Joey and Dawson are involved in a class film project again. This time it's to unmask the real story of the Blair Witch of Cape Side. And we discover one particular woman, believed to be a witch, was in love with a man who may have condemned her as the rest of town did. And we have a mystery; did the two lovers find each other before they perished, did love conquer all odds...or did the man take the easy way out and give up on his true love. Naturally, Joey & Dawson find themselves talking about their relationship once again. Of course, it's Joey that wants to talk about it and Dawson who'd rather not. I'm trying to understand why Dawson feels that it can wait but maybe I already do. If his feelings were strong enough to want to be with Joey, he'd talk about it. At least tell her that he just needed time to himself for a while. But the only thing he'll say is that it's not the right time to talk about it. My feeling is that he's not in love with her. I believe he loves her, sure. But being in-love with someone is a lot different. The only time his feelings came out are when Pacey decided he wanted Joey. I'm convinced that he doesn't have the "I can't live without you" feeling necessary for a lifetime commitment. (I know, they're only in high school)
Jen had quite a time at her homecoming party...but breaks the heart of an unassuming young freshman QB. Jack is MIA today (must be his punishment for eating ice cream out of the container yesterday) .... Oh, big news -- Jen and Pacey have decided to become F* buddies. Boy oh boy is this a mistake. No matter how easy it seems, no matter how you convince yourself in the beginning that everything will be fine. It won't. The "no kissing" rule is good, but it won't last. They'll start kissing. One will start to grow feelings for the other because of the shared intimacy. And when the other wants things to be "different" (to mean more), the other will not want the same thing...which equals trouble. It's when the two parties don't feel the same the trouble starts. Don't get me wrong here, it is fun, it is nice, and it's great to have someone in your life for that purpose; that's willing to do that with you. It certainly does wonders for your self image and attitude. But yes, there is something wrong with it and it will lead to hurt feelings, eventually.
The ever maniacal, conniving, lying Andy has hatched another scheme to get what she wants...this time it was Pacey. Making up a story about being attacked is just about as low as you can be as a human being. I can't stand this character now....the face of benevolence, with the will of the devil. AND she is the head of the disciplinary committee??!! Well, she figured by playing a victim she'd somehow win Pacey back. Pacey shows Andy his new/old boat....and the next metaphor begins - sometimes it's easier to start from scratch than to repair something old and worn. Some things may be wrecked beyond repair. Pacey then said the most meaningful thing of the show today - it wasn't about forgiveness or forgetting, it wasn't about who did what to whom and when...it was the sign that told him that she wasn't the right one for him. Her uncertainty (sleeping with another guy) told him, that for a moment she didn't feel that he was the right one for her - while he never once had a second thought that she wasn't the right person for him. She may have felt like it was a mistake and can apologize all she wants for the rest of her life...but did she really care for Pacey? Was she thinking of him while she was have sex with someone else? Does it take sleeping with someone else to realize what's right or what you really want?
She could tell him that she cared about him the most...but did her actions show it? I think she cared about herself first. Maybe that doesn't sound like such a bad thing, but while I agree that you should care about yourself, I think you should always put others ahead of your own desires. That's how I live my life.
I mean, how can someone claim to care about you so much but not care that they hurt your feelings?
