OK, I swear this is all I'll say about it, i'll get this out of my system. If you hate federal politics do not read any further, that is all that will be in this journal, lol.
The big budget vote was today. That was really intense! I'm happy about the results, but it was really close! I can't believe it was actually a tie. But that's good. If Belinda Stronach hadn't switched to the Liberal caucus it might have gone the way of the conservatives...they they would have had one more vote, and won. That was crazy, with her switching. It looks really bad for the conservatives to have one of their biggest mla's who helped create the party switch sides. I wish that they would stop talking about Peter MacKay so much in the news, I mean the switching sides yeah can be news, but his broken heart? OK, say it once, but one breakup shouldn't be national news, it happens to everyone. But the vote was interesting...it realy came down to the three independants, and actually one at the end. Parrish went with the liberals, and Kilgor with the conservatives, they declared that one before the vote, and Cadman was the only one that hadn't said, so everyone waited very anxiously to see when he'd stand. Luckily, with the government. And of coruse, since the speaker had to vote, he went with the liberals and continuing the government, no surprise there. It's worrying, the Bloc are very high in the polls right now.....that is a scary thought...i'd rather vote conservative (even though that's at the bottom just above bloc...then liberals, and ndp tops my list, no surprise there). Seperatism is very high right now. It'll be interesting over the next couple of years over that stuff...if there will be an attempt to separate. Craziness. But the good thing is the NDP are going up in the polls. The bickering of the Liberals and Conservatives has caused the bloc and ndp to go up in the polls..and the green party too, but not enough to get a government or anything. Kinda like the bc greens. who surprisingly went down this election from twelve to nine percent of the popular vote. i expected them to go up, not down. but i'm happy the ndps got 33 seats. up from three! that's a huge jump. the ndp from my riding didn't get in, but i actually like the liberal guy, his political party aside. but the maple ridge-pitt meadows ndp got in! wOOt. well, i think i shall stop my politics rant, i just felt like getting that off my chest! (i have been watching far too much news apparently, it is prolly a good thing that i am starting working next week) :)
