English Riding

I had my first lesson ever on English today. I rode Western as a little kid...quit cuz I got bored. I always wanted to do jumping.

I had a great horse. A chestnut thoroughbred....my fav breed and color. And he was a big sweetie who kept giving me nuzzles.

I got the walk right away. I find steering in English much easier than Western. I also find it easier to balance on the saddle (I have very tight hips and the narrower saddle is better) and sruff like that. So, walking was easy.

Like 5 min (maybe even less) into the lesson she started me on trot. Posting is hard. I got it a little, and then Id lose it again. Oh well, it will take practice. Uses totally diffrent muscles than skating does...but the balance from skating will help.

Charles (the TB I rode) was great. He was a real sweetie. I spent a half hour with him before the lesson and 15 min after. He was so cute...wouldn't leave until I kissed him again.

He's blind in one eye (thats why he was sold to this stable...some one used him for jumping before), but he does quite well.
