I'll ask you this, if it was really THAT BAD, why in the 7 years the team has been around has not one player walked. You say, in spite of Bill Fox it was for the love of the team, but honestly if it was that terrible and awful you'd think at least one person would quit? The due process of this "very extensive and diligent investigation" was terrible. Most of it involved a single parent calling a slew of people, ranging from past players to opposing coaches to get them to go against Bill Fox. Did you know that Dr.O'malley, probably one of the closest people to Bill, was never contacted until he demanded an audience? The investigation into these matters was nothing of the sort. It as a witchhunt to remove the current coaching staff, as I said before, caused by a few disgruntled individuals. One such who told another parent at the school board meeting on Monday 'I got my way'. The parents involved with bringing down Coach Fox not only are doing it behind people's backs and behind closed doors, but are behaving like children.
Don't act as if I'm the only person petitioning against this decision. Several others are involved and what we are doing is not 'negativity'. This is not over and we will not be satisfied until the decision is overturned. The parents involved with bringing the coaching down are single-handedly ruining South girls hockey. No 'accumulated wisdom' can account for that.
IF you properly quoted a parent as boastful then that parent should not have said that. That remark is childish, but nothing compared to the kids who give their "beloved" teammates the finger, who threaten to do something mean to them, who call them F*faces in writing; who insist on dwelling on the past, and thus really threaten to destroy the future.
You are acting on a lot of misinformation and emotion.
A number of players did walk during the last 7 years; a number of players chose to not even show up for tryouts. And just because some kids did not want to sacrifice their love of the game to a coach and be a martyr is no justification.
Who are you to judge the due process of this investigation? Professionals (a number of mature ones) did a lot of calling and investigating. Dr. O has known about the problems for a long time and chose not to do anything about it. It was not about Dr. O.
It was not a "few" disgruntled individuals. It was a large number of disgruntled individuals with serious issues. And it was a majority of the kids with the most concern; those who have the opportunity to return next year. It was the AD who set the philosophy and the coach who decided to ignore it. Do you really think the AD, let alone the entire Board, Superintendent, and Administration would change the coach who just won a state championship based on a couple of unsubstantiated complaints? Be serious!
There was no "behind people's backs and behind closed doors". The Coach knew there were problems and did not want to talk about them. The process was very open as you well know by the number of times you spoke with the AD. I suppose the parents called each other anonymously and hid behind sheets when they spoke to the adminstration? If it was so anonymous then how do you know who they are? If you are so sure of yourself and so concerned why don't you have the courage to just call up these disgruntled parents and talk to them?
There is nothing that has been done to "ruin" South girls hockey. That is a ridiculous statement. It has changed. Maybe the change will not be for the better. But the mere act of a new coach, ruining it? Come on!
Coach Fox had a number of positive accomplishments and earned the respect of a number of people. You are obviously one of them. Of course there are more. No one has or should ever say the Coach has not accomplished a lot and made a positive difference in a number of girls' lives.
Continuing this issue is not going to reverse the decision, help the team, or help coach Fox. It will only make things more devisive encourage more issues, accusations (both right and wrong) to fly around and make everybody feel worse and look bad and possible really destroy the team. And that would be "single-handedly ruining South girls hockey."
You would be doing your own reputation, Coach Fox's and the team's a favor if you just expressed your support for the job he has done, the positive things he has taught you, passionately regretted the decision, and encouraged the underclassmen to make the best of the situation.
You are much smarter then all this and a much better person. Don't force people to "kick up the dirt". Grasp the positive, move on.
First of all I was not involved in giving other teammates the finger or calling them 'F*faces' in an email. Don't paint everyone that doesn't support your opinion with the same broad brush.
How can you say South hockey will change for the better? Do you really think that the administration is going to find someone willing to sacrifice as much time as the current staff has, and with only 3 months until the next school year? I think not.
This fight to get the coach fired is what is destroying the team, not the people rallying against it. I'm not 'kicking up dirt' at anyone either. This is my journal, and this is where I am allowed to express my own opinion. If people want to respond to it, so be it but this is not a personal tiff on private email.
Who are you to judge the due process of this investigation?
And who are you to say its valid? I don't even know what role you play in this.
"THE FIGHT TO GET THE COACH FIRED" HAS CEASED. THE DEED HAS BEEN DONE, HE'S GONE.
WHAT IS DESTROYING THE TEAM IS MOST DEFINITELY THE EXCESS RALLYING YOU ARE PLOTTING. IF YOU HAD THE TEAM'S BEST INTEREST IN MIND, YOU WOULD ACCEPT THE DECISION THAT HAS BEEN MADE MATURELY, BE THANKFUL FOR THE WONDERFUL YEARS COACH FOX HAS BESTOWED UPON YOU, AND ENCOURAGE YOUR TEAMMATES TO CONTINUE THE LEGACY YOU SO GRACIOUSLY LEFT THEM.
BE A TEAM PLAYER, BE HAPPY FOR ALL OF THE THINGS MR. FOX HAS GIVEN YOU. HE'S DONE AMAZING THINGS FOR THE WOMEN'S HOCKEY PROGRAM--NO ONE IS DENYING THAT. DON'T RUIN HIS LEGACY THROUGH YOUR ATTEMPT TO LEAVE ONE.
I'm not attempting to leave a legacy by any means.
If there has been any rallying and plotting going on its been post-season by people trying to get Mr.Fox fired. If anyone is a team player, its the group of us that support him.
Your attempt to justify your argument through the proposal of "if it was really THAT BAD, why in the 7 years the team has been around has not one player walked?" is completely useless as well as illegitimate.
If you had taken but two minutes to glance at past statistics, you would have perhaps taken notice of the fact that innumerable players HAVE quit, due to circumstances they found to be unbearable.
I suggest that in future rebuttles, you perform "a more extensive and diligent investigation" regarding your grounds for debate.
People have simply not come back to try out, which isn't quitting. You can't quit if you're not on the team. Nobody has walked off the team during the season though.
I have another question for you, why have you chosen to resond anonomously to my post? Why is it so hard to just come out own up to who you people are? Myself and Hilliary have been the only ones with enough guts to use our names and known internet 'codenames'. Talk about being immature.
Don't act as if I'm the only person petitioning against this decision. Several others are involved and what we are doing is not 'negativity'. According to you, whether they quit or not shouldn't be a concern. Under your terms, they aren't even on the team.
