The accusations that the coach is being held under are of course not solely about the ice time. Today myself and a group of others personally talked to the athletic director and the human resources director. These accusers, yourself probably being one of them (but how would we know, as you have chosen to speak anonymously), have used things like 'he's mean and nasty' as the basis of your argument. You know what? Maybe I wouldn't use the same kind of attitude Bill uses to coach the team but whether you want to argue it or not, it works. How many state championships have we won? The fact of the matter is that the 'ringleader' of the accusers IS upset about the issue of ice time; something that sparked other irrational qualms about the organization.
Hockey is nothing without the girls that play it, but then again there is no hockey if there isn't a solid organization to play it for. Despite the coaches being removed or the team being torn from beneath our feet, you're right. There will still be visits to Dr.O's and long-lasting friendships. That however is not what this is about. We 'Crusaders of Justice' want to play hockey for a winning team. As I am leaving next year, I want my fellow compatriots to play hockey for the winning team that I played for.
I don't even know where you get "malicious criticism and hurtful put downs". Coach Fox has never personally insulted anyone on the team in a hurtful manner. On the ice the criticism is constructive. The times when he yells or gets pissed off, it only has to do with hockey, never you personally. Honestly, why go through all of this School Board nonsense if you couldn't take it and simply play for another team? What are you going to do if you ever get an asshole boss? There won't be parents or a school board to complain to.
The Grosse Pointe School Board is firing someone based on the irrational judgment of a minority of disgruntled players and parents. The basis of this judgment is questioning Bill's character and a decision as a coach, but it still essentially comes down to who didn't get to play.
Just a few questions. You say " Fox's attitude may not be the best but it works." Is this the idea you plan on going through life with? Have you ever thought about what you are saying? Giving into peer pressure and drinking is not the best way to make friends, but its ok because it works. Slitting your wrists isnt the best way to relieve stress, but it works so its ok to do. And starving yourself isnt the best way to look like the girl on the magazine, but its ok because it works. Is it really ok? If this is how you plan to go through life, always excpeting the leftovers and always being ok with it "because it works".Thats sad.
And as for the boss comparison. If I had a boss that was a jerk, I sure wouldnt let him walk all over me and let myself get harassed. I'd try to stop the situation and try to something about it because I have self respect.
Re-read the first two sentences of your second to last paragraph. and then THINK.
