What has happened has absolutely nothing to do with ice time.

This is obvious seeing as you're not angry, and your on-ice contributions hardly exceed penalty killing.

The intensity level upon which a team practices/performs should not be based on a collective fear of getting yelled at or 'benched,' or even a shared hatred for an unnamed individual. Players participating at a varsity level ought to have the integrity, the work ethic, and the determination to want a championship on their own and a good coach should be able to utilize these qualities and employ them in a positive manner.

I also find this 'competitive edge' you speak of to be non-existent. Competition is defined as the fervent rivalry between two opposing forces striving to attain a common objective and is determined solely upon the talents and spirits of the two aforementioned teams and their players. Unless you don't mind using hard, polysyllabic words like "competitive" out of context, I suggest you change your grounds for argument. A team can most definitely be competitive no matter the coach and certainly without extraneous negativity.

If you're the type of individual who needs someone constantly supplying you with malicious criticism and hurtful put downs, unable to muster the motivation to perform well on your own, then I submit to you that perhaps you should follow your own advice and look into the more recreational programs the Neighborhood Club has to offer.

I might also add that the past four years have not been 'amazing' for you because of Bill Fox. They have been memorable due to the comradery established amongst your teammates and your shared love for the game. Bill Fox's displacement will not any way hinder your superfluous visits to Dr. O'Malley's house or the friendships you've made with your teammates so I can't even begin to imagine the origin of your alleged animosity.

As for a conclusion, I'll repress my attack on your 'letter' by quoting a brilliant author. "[This] is life and not everything is fair and even. Deal with it."

...And for those of you not returning because Bill Fox has been removed from the program, I would only hope that your selfish actions are taken into consideration and realized before you sacrifice the opportunity of a lifetime. If your principle objective is, in fact, the good of the team, you should realize that your withrawal of membership will only hurt the women's program, and the fellow teammates you seem to speak so highly of.

Also, did you, the Crusaders of Justice, honestly think that the Grosse Pointe School Board would fire someone solely upon the petty accusation of uneven ice distribution made by a few angry parents? I salute your intelligence and congratulate you for being SO incredibly realistic in your assumption.

The accusations that the coach is being held under are of course not solely about the ice time. Today myself and a group of others personally talked to the athletic director and the human resources director. These accusers, yourself probably being one of them (but how would we know, as you have chosen to speak anonymously), have used things like 'he's mean and nasty' as the basis of your argument. You know what? Maybe I wouldn't use the same kind of attitude Bill uses to coach the team but whether you want to argue it or not, it works. How many state championships have we won? The fact of the matter is that the 'ringleader' of the accusers IS upset about the issue of ice time; something that sparked other irrational qualms about the organization.

Hockey is nothing without the girls that play it, but then again there is no hockey if there isn't a solid organization to play it for. Despite the coaches being removed or the team being torn from beneath our feet, you're right. There will still be visits to Dr.O's and long-lasting friendships. That however is not what this is about. We 'Crusaders of Justice' want to play hockey for a winning team. As I am leaving next year, I want my fellow compatriots to play hockey for the winning team that I played for.

I don't even know where you get "malicious criticism and hurtful put downs". Coach Fox has never personally insulted anyone on the team in a hurtful manner. On the ice the criticism is constructive. The times when he yells or gets pissed off, it only has to do with hockey, never you personally. Honestly, why go through all of this School Board nonsense if you couldn't take it and simply play for another team? What are you going to do if you ever get an asshole boss? There won't be parents or a school board to complain to.

The Grosse Pointe School Board is firing someone based on the irrational judgment of a minority of disgruntled players and parents. The basis of this judgment is questioning Bill's character and a decision as a coach, but it still essentially comes down to who didn't get to play.

Just a few questions.
You say " Fox's attitude may not be the best but it works." Is this the idea you plan on going through life with? Have you ever thought about what you are saying? Giving into peer pressure and drinking is not the best way to make friends, but its ok because it works. Slitting your wrists isnt the best way to relieve stress, but it works so its ok to do. And starving yourself isnt the best way to look like the girl on the magazine, but its ok because it works. Is it really ok?
If this is how you plan to go through life, always excpeting the leftovers and always being ok with it "because it works".Thats sad.

And as for the boss comparison. If I had a boss that was a jerk, I sure wouldnt let him walk all over me and let myself get harassed. I'd try to stop the situation and try to something about it because I have self respect.

Re-read the first two sentences of your second to last paragraph. and then THINK.

You're comparing our coaching to 'slitting your wrists' and 'starving yourself', and you're telling me to THINK. Good grief.
