Per invitation, I decided to go to Chips & Salsa to watch Florida pummel Oklahoma. Stewart has started calling the Gators the "Florida Tebows", which is fucking genius and pretty much explains my feelings about the team. Still, it's nice to see the SEC showing up strong, especially after that embarrassment that was the Utah vs Alabama game.
I never expect it, but I really shouldn't be so surprised when I see people I know or used to know in south Huntsville. It's home, right? So, I saw Jen, who I hadn't seen in maybe a year and recognized her friend Deedra from the Grissom days. Deedra's engaged now and a lot more fun to talk to. Did I mention that highschool acquaintances seem to age like a fine wine? I know not everyone feels that way, but the analogy is holding quite well for the moment. I also didn't recognize Rob Fisher, who I worked with back during my short stint at EB Games. Sue me if I'm more inclined to recognize women than men. In my defense, Rob had gained like 100 lbs in the seven years since I worked with him, but he's still cool as shit, still blue collar to the core, and still muthafuggin Dre. Oh, and Xbox Live is the new Facebook. Over the past week, I've seen people I haven't seen in ages and while I'm in no rush to friend them on a social networking site (those are for dating, silly), I'm definitely gonna add them as XBL friends.
I should also mention that the host of this ad hoc BCS get together sent me over ten text messages in twelve hours. If that's not a hint, I don't know what is. In vino, veritas. I should also mention that Greg has masterminded a trip to see Girl Talk, since he had to back out of the Louisville show last-minute. I invited BCS host girl to go too, since she introduced me to Girl Talk in the first place, and since she was unable to make the Louisville show. It should be a good group, although I don't really know Greg's other friend that's going. Stewart may go, but he's kind of flakey on committing to that sort of thing, so I don't expect it.
It was a fun night, but my first thought when I got home was "geez! I didn't get to play Bioshock today!" When a game tells you you're headed down a one-way street, the consequences become that much more intriguing.
