I am so ready to tear my hair out of my head and run screaming into the night. D: I mistakenly clicked on a pop-up last night and I think it installed some sort of virus/spyware on my computer. I've gone to countless people that I know to get this fixed and finally resorted to Geek Squad earlier tonight. Either nobody fucking understands the problem or I'm apparently not outlining it correctly, because the guy at Geek Squad was like "well, I have it under control for now, but bring it back in tomorrow morning to eliminate the problem." My computer is in THE SAME predicament it was before. Maybe I should have turned on my computer and SHOWED him the problem, because I don't think he understood at all.
Anyway, I'm going to go back tomorrow and talk to a different guy that I already sort of know and see if he can fix the problem. If not, I'm just going to purchase an external hard drive, move all my files over, and wipe my computer. When I go tomorrow I'm going to make sure I outline clearly what the fuck is wrong to the other guy so he can help me.
It all started earlier today when I noticed my computer was running the interbutts really slowly and it kept freezing up. This is odd for me because my computer NEVER freezes up, especially multiple times. Over the course of the day, this is what has happened to my computer:
-Google (and all other search engines) aren't working properly. When I do a normal web search it gives me the page results as usual, but when I hover over a link and look at the URL it displays at the bottom of the page, the URL isn't like the normal one, it adds a "go" in front of Google (or yahoo, whatever) and puts LONG ass text. Here's an example: (

But yeah, that's what I get. Every time. When I click on it (this was a search for Wikipedia mind you) not only does it open in a new window, which Google never does, it gives me random sites. When I clicked that one, it took me to the yellow pages. Other ones have redirected me to random search engines, flower sites, and real estate sites.
-This virus/spyware is blocking ALL antivirus sites. I've tried to access AVG's site, Ad-Aware, Norton, etc. If it knows it's an antivirus/anti-spyware site, it blocks it. How fucking awful is that? It means I can't update any of my antivirus stuff. It literally tries to load the page for a second, but then it gets a "page load error". I know the sites are really working because I checked my sister's laptop too. Oh, and from what the Geek Squad guy told me, whatever this is has deleted my latest version of AVG.
-This also ties in with the above, my dad tried to buy a new antivirus service for me (Kaspersky) and after running it I realized it couldn't show me the results/fix the problem until I activated it. Well, guess what? IT'S BLOCKING IT'S SITE BECAUSE IT'S ANTIVIRUS. Yes, that means I CANNOT use my new antivirus shit because whatever this is on my computer is blocking it. Yup. I think the guy at the store thought it was because their server was down or something, but I don't think he really understood the problem. He told me that if I could just get the antivirus shit working, it would solve the problem. Well, fuck.
Other than that stuff, my computer is still running okay. I can still run stuff like iTunes and log into Gaia, but if I don't get this fixed soon my computer is going to be really susceptible to worse viruses. I just need to make sure when I go in tomorrow that I clearly explain to this other guy what's wrong. Hopefully they can help. d:
