Earlier last week, I got to work with April for seven hours! It was really exciting, and work was much more pleasant that day, because we worked on counter together for a good portion of it. It wasn't even as awful as usual when Moe got mad at me (as she does every single day), because April was there too and showed me how to brew iced coffee. (something I would have asked instruction on earlier if other workers weren't prone to... extreme grumpiness).
Saturday was great, too, because all of the other workers were teens, so nobody yelled at me!
I really can't understand the presence of such short tempers at Dunkin' Donuts. It's *never* like that at Market Basket. I mean, yeah, there will be people who are in bad moods, but (with one exception), I've never seen employees unprofessional enough to yell at each other in front of customers. With some of the older crew at DD, this seems to be daily ritual. I hate to admit it, but... I really hate working there. Customers don't respect me there, because they tend to see fast-food workers as dirt, and dealing with insane co-workers is more than I can handle. Really. I never fight back, because they're older, and because we're standing in front of customers pretty much all the time, but sometimes it's a strain to not lose my temper.
But, in cheerier news, I've decided to actually major in something along the lines of my passion:" English literature, and English writing. I'm not sure what said major will be, but I'm contemplating comparative literature, and even English with an emphasis in Creative Writing. (as we don't have a straight "creative writing" major).
So, life goes on, though I haven't stopped much to comment on it lately. I can't believe it's already halfway through my vacation!
