today, i was a rockstar...
today was definitly one of the best days ever.
i woke up at 5AM to do the written part of my oral presentation which i had to do for my phil of beauty class at 12:15. it was on the first section of hegel's lectures On Art, wherein he refutes objections to the idea that the philosophy of beauty (or aesthetics) can be dealt with in a scientific and markedly objective way. ive read the collection of lectures (On Art, Religion, and the History of Philosophy)in its entirety at least three times. anyway i finished it with time to spare, and made it to school early so i could prepare myself for the presentation. I was really nervous, given that i hadnt even looked at the book until this morning. somehow i got it together and fucking nailed it. my prof and class got really into it. apparently i can pull philosophy papers out of my ass and have them be "excellent." i guess thats one thing i learned in college.
after my phil class i went outside for a stoge, then went back upstairs for my women in art class. we were talking about eva hesse, who i kinda could care less about, but i made some good points that my prof was definitely into about her being more androgynous than overtly feminine as her critics project onto her. anyway at some point my prof asked the class if we'd seen the painting 1 show (in which i have two works up) in the art dept gallery. I raised my hand, and the following conversation occurred:
my prof: You're in the show aren't you?
me: yeah
my prof: did you do the gentileschi copy? *beam* (note: artemisia gentileschi was a 17th century italian painter. i adore her. shes an incredible historical figure that i wouldnt have known about if it werent for this class.)
me: yes *double beam*
my prof: how wonderful! how about we go down to the gallery 10 minutes before class ends to see karina's paintings?
my class: sure.
me: *blush*
so we did and the whole class talked about my two paintings (EMILY: the other one i have up is your portrait. youre famous!) for 10 minutes and it was fucking METAAAAAAAL!!!!!
now im home blazing and chilling with my bilf and yeah today was dopalicious. finally!
