so for those of you who dont know, bill is in the hospital, and thus we are obviously still in bklyn.
he got sick on saturday and we went to the hospital on sunday and he had an operation on monday, and now hes recovering.
he's healing really really well, and the doctors say there were no complications in the surgery. a surgeon told me today that hes expecting bill to be discharged (and good as new) by friday or saturday.
if youve called me in the past 5 days and i havent gotten back to you i sincerly apologize. i've esentially spent the past 5 days living in the hospital with bill, and dealing with helping him get better and the complete incompetency of the staff of new york methodist hospital. when im not helping bill get what he needs, im chasing nurses and doctors and insurance people around the hospital, mostly begging them to do their jobs. cell service is pretty spotty inside bill's room, so i usually can only talk on the phone when i go outside to smoke a cigarette. that said, if you need to get in touch with me or bill, you can call my phone and leave a message, since i check my voicemail as frequently as i can.
the last five days have been incredibly intense and draining, but the doctors took out the tubes that were keeping bill's body in working condition before and after the surgery today, and he was able to get out of bed and walk (with my assistance) down the corner of the hallway outside his room, which is really good since he's been bed ridden up untill this morning. they also took him off his antibiotic drip, which means that theyre not worried about infection anymore. this overall hellish experience is thankfully almost over, and in a few days bill will hopefully be back to some semblance of human existence.
if you'd like to come visit bill in the hospital or send him something or whatever, were at new york methodist hospital in park slope (7th ave/6th street). the room number is i422. if youre gonna stop by the hospital, you should definatly call me so we can determine when the best time to see him would be. this is the first time ive had time to check the interwebs since saturday, so untill bill gets released, my interweb communications will be slow.
as a parting note, i would just like to suggest that if you can avoid it, NEVER GO TO NEW YORK METHODIST when in need of serious medical care.
thank you all so much for your support, patience, and care for the situation. bill and i have been completely worn out by the events of the past 5 days, and we really truly appreciate it.
