im in montreal for court on thursday. well, court is on friday, but still. i think it will be thrown out. if not, there will be a bench warrant for my arrest because i will run out of the court and never return. i mean, if they can't find me, i can't be charged and then i can go to school without a cirminal record and be the best damn tattooing social werker out there.
i had an appointment at the clinic today. i spent an hour educating my nurse on HepC. i thought it was kinda fucked that she knew NOTHING about the disease. she didn't even know that it attacked the liver!!! many people are so fucking ignorant to the disease. this bothers me, so i will type the basics about it for all:

Hepatitis C is the liver disease caused the Hepatitis C virus which was first identified in 1989. HepC is spread by direct contact with the blood of an infected person. HepC differs from HepA and HepB, which are spread through the bodily fluids of an infected person or contaminated foods.
People who are at risk include blood transfusion recipients prior to 1990, people who use injection drugs or share other drug-related equiptment. you cannot get it from sharing a bong with me, but dont stab my rigg into your own arm after i use it. also, people with tattoos and piercings who have been done with non-sterile equiptment. believe me, this happens alot. 63% of people with HepC don't know how they got it.
the risk of getting HepC through sex is really really fucking low. like, less than 2%. unless you have cuts all over your dick and im ragging, don't get werried. women who give birth while infected with HepC have a 5% chance of giving it to their new born. you can't give HepC to the child while breastfeeding.
The only way to know for shure if you have HepC is through a blood test. the timing of results can vary, but its usually up to two to three weeks after the test that you'll get a result. sometimes its good to take another one after those three weeks just because the disease can sometimes not be caught. if you know you've come in direct contact with an infected person's blood, or other things that can contain their blood, its best to check.
i can't give you HepC by hugging you, kissing you, touching you, sharing a toilet with you, or wearing your clothes.
you should avoid using objects that may have an infected person's blood on it, like razors, syringes, toothbrushes, and for extra precaution, i dont share hairbrushes with people.
Most people with chronic HepC feel well for many years. in 10-20% of patients, chronic HepC leads to cirrhosis - irreversible and fatal scarring of the liver. in severe cases, it can lead to liver cancer ot liver failure.
so, that's the basics. now enjoy funny quiz stuff...
