Words Are Not Enough

i'm so sick of people that think they are making a difference through "awareness." telling people about how many children are starving in the world does not make the listener actually do anything about it. most people know the general bad things about the world and about corruption, but has that led people to go out and make a difference? does reiterating the injustices of others to those who are already informed really help anyone? Indifference is the final reaction we recieve, even if the initial reaction was of a small amount of shock, due to the fact that something terrible was thrust into their faces.

But don't those that try to change the world only through awareness show that they too are indifferent? If you really want to help people, animals, or any other cause DO SOMETHING, don't just SAY something. don't spit out statistics that you found on the internet or in some magazine. statistics just dehumanize people. even if the quantitative data of a person's life is used in a statistic, that DOES NOT make that PERSON a statistic.

so go out and do something, however little it may be. i mean you could do anything. plant a damn tree. or go out and give food to homeless people. give money to a charity, because it is money that they really need, and not just your sympathy or awareness. go out and clean up litter. i mean damn, every little bit of those small things helps more than all the awareness you could give out in your lifetime if youre not going to actually go out and do anything.
