First of all, before I get to Barcelona, here are a couple pictures from Italy that didn't make it into the
previous post.
Eating gelato in San Terenziano.
Brunch on the morning after Chris & Ilaria's wedding - Ryan, Jimmy, Nina & Carly.
JUNE 26TH
This is Barcelona!
MACBA (Barcelona's modern art museum). We especially liked the exhibit of artwork by Benet Rossell.
In the shop I bought this zine by the
Zizi Illustrators Collective.
Each page has an illustration of a song.
There were two illustrations of Descendents songs (by Elvira Pagliuca), so I couldn't not buy it.
Plaça de Catalunya.
This mosaic shows what La Rambla (the main street that goes the length of the city center) looked like in the middle ages.
Fruit in the Boqueria market.
Plaça Reial.
The Columbus Monument.
And the very fitting paste-up on the base.
There were all these fish going for tasty snacks thrown in by tourists.
The Rambla del Mar.
Outside the aquarium.
On our way home we ran into Barcelona's gay pride parade! These were some of the more colorful characters.
In the Liceu metro station.
Barcelona Metro - our best friend.
JUNE 27TH
I had cafe con leche every morning.
We got up and walked a couple blocks to Mercat St. Antoni, where they were having the used book market. I had so much fun sifting through old books, photographs and postcards.
James bought this family photo album with 95 pictures. The seller asked for €30 the first time we asked about it, but after we wandered around for a while and came back he dropped it down to €20!
Photos of the Sagrada Familia.
They're in Park Güell in the top left photo!
Kitty!
I bought these photos of this stylish lady. She's in front of the same Neptune Fountain that my friends and I
visited in Florence!
Josep Llimona's Desconsol (Grief).
The waterfall at the Ciutadella.
The Arc De Triomf.
Frank Gehry's goldfish sculpture.
This is as far as I made it into the Mediterranean.
JUNE 28TH
On our way to Park Güell.
The entrance to Park Güell.
One of the gatehouses.
This dude was doing some pretty srs performance art.
:o
Gaudi's house in Park Guell.

It had these amazing dandelion tiles all over it.
Sagrada Familia.
JUNE 29TH
Casa Mila (La Pedrera)
One floor of the house has Victorian decor.
Another floor is an exhibit about Gaudi's designs.
And the roof is amazing.
Casa Batlló.
Passatge Permanyer.
The Joan Miró sculpture Dona i Ocell (Woman and bird).
Plaça d'Espanya.
JUNE 30TH
Outside the Palau de la Música Catalana.
Plaça Sant Felip Neri.
JULY 1ST
Lichtenstein's The Head.
The Palau de la Generalitat in Plaça de Sant Jaume had the most amazing gargoyles I've ever seen.
Jimmy's favorite Barcelona restaurant, Romesco, and some poodles in Plaça Reial.
Palau Güell.
We saw an amazing exhibit of photos by Eugeni Forcano. You can see more of his photos
here.
Later in the day we made our way to Montjuïc. This is the Font del Gat - a natural spring with a sculpture of a cat's face.
We wandered around the Olympic Stadium.
We ended up at this cheesy fountain with a water show and Disney music, lol.
JULY 2ND
The first thing we did on our last day in Barcelona is see an exhibit of photos by Jacques Henri Lartigue.
We visited the Ciutadella again.
And I had coconut juice at the Boqueria.
JULY 3RD
We flew back to Rome on July 3rd. The Barcelona airport was lovely.
This was a free magazine from our airline. It had a good article on the area of Barcelona we stayed in (Poble Sec), as well as some other good photos and illustrations.
