I think a lot of your prints are really good. I like the slickness of "Vulnavia", but I particularly like your relief prints. There are a lot of emerging artists right now doing serigraphs, giclée and other really flat-seeming prints, and I certainly like many of those works, but I get the feeling that the pendulum is starting to swing back the other way -- where works that play against the slick, processed look are starting to stand out more. That's why, if I can weigh-in with my opinion, I think that your woodcuts and lino-cuts are particularly strong. That kind of direct, physical effect that relief cuts have gives extra visual impact and it also provides an effectively rustic counterpoint to some of your more pop subject matter.
Gah -- I sound like an art teacher. Well, if you asked for opinions, you get opinions.
i know its really kind of hard to part with originals, including silkscreens and woodcuts. i also have a really really hard time with pricing, especially for originals. people will email me asking about an original oil painting, and i'll give them a low price, and they still wont ever contact me again--i guess they dont realize that just materials alone when it comes to something like an oil painting are extremely high, and no i wont sell an oil painting for 20bucks! people dont understand that if youre going to sell an original, no matter what medium its in, you should get a decent amount of money. thats why i think its best to sell decent quality prints. people will be more likely to buy a giclee (which are also kind of expensive to produce) or some other kind of print
( ... )
Yeah I'm definitely going to do more research before I jump into it, I just feel so lame when someone asks me if I have prints for sale and I say no, haha.
Vulnavia is one of the ones that I'm considering selling originals of.
