They have Stricken

Dec 20, 2005 18:13

Finally the employees of the MTA, blinded with rage and brainwashed by the TWU, went on strike at 3am. "Screw you, NY!" is what they said, as they quit their posts and held up their signs for more wages and healthcare plans. Some people say that it's good they're standing up for themselves. I say, they are a bunch of selfish bastards.

I'm not sure of the exact figure, but MTA employees - the people who drive the subways, know NOT how to use an overhead speaker, know NOT how to make change of a $20, and the people who never reply when I say "Good Morning" and "Thank you" - make more than NYC teachers and NYC cops. The people who so kindly clog our streets with buses that never run on schedule make more than the people who grant us the right of protection and the education of our children. Granted - I am mostly angry at the small percentage of MTA employees who add to the misery of my everyday life. But the education of such an employee is YEARS behind an elementary school teacher. Why, if they are already making so much money, and have such comfortable lives after being (basically) scum suckers their whole life, would they demand more? What gives them this right?

At least the media is making it known that this is an illegal strike. That makes me feel a little better.
