The last few days I've been taking advantage of our warm spring afternoons by taking a travel mug's worth of homemade frappucino or herbal tea out to the park and catching up on my Terry Pratchett. I have to say there are worse ways of killing an hour.
Randomness, links, and reviews, because boy is a lot of stuff I want to watch coming out lately:
» I think it says something about me and my priorities that when Mum went to the US to visit my grandparents I asked her to bring back
Starry Night knee-high socks and a
book of Spider-Man essays. The latter has an essay by Robert Greenberger, who I've met a couple times at
chuckro's family's Thanksgivings, but I haven't had a chance to read it yet.
»
I thought this April Fool's joke on Google's part was pretty awesome. » The Hunger Games: saw it, enjoyed it. It was successful as both a film in its own right and an adaptation, and to prove it I stayed up until 7 AM the following morning rereading the entire trilogy.
»
My review of the new Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon. tl;dr -- it's a cute kiddie show/"What If?", but I would've much rather a third season of Spectacular Spider-Man.
» On the other hand, these
tidbits about Avenging Spider-Man have me excited. Team up with Carol Danvers! (Whose new Captain Marvel costume looks a lot better rendered by the Dodsons than the artists she'll have on her own series, sadly.) Art by Chris Samnee and Stuart Immonen! Zeb Wells leaving, but doing a Spider-Man/Wolverine series (hopefully with more great character work in the vein of his
Spider-Man/Wolverine short story, which may be one of my favorite Spidey stories of all time).
» Mostly saved for my own reference, recently I got into
a fun discussion on the merits of Spidey as Marvel's "giant-killer", with a bonus segue into my breaking down
I still need to write up my thoughts on Legend of Korra, and I haven't seen the season premieres of Game of Thrones or Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes yet.
