I can't believe it's halfway through my trip already! I'm already dreading going home... although I know I'd never be able to sustain this level of activity longterm, and will crash as soon as I get back, my mood is miles better and now that I've gotten into the swing of things I haven't had to recharge quite as much as I thought I would. Amazing what a bit of human interaction and actual activities of interest can do.
So, some of the things I've been up to:
- Made it to all of
chuckro and
jethrien's dinner-and-gaming sessions so far, unlike my poor brother who keeps being sent on weeklong trips for work. I ... think I'm starting to get the hang of the basic mechanics? The complicated stuff or less tangible stuff like being in character ... HAHAHA no.
- It's been a good trip for reunions with college friends I haven't seen since college, or close enough: so far I ran into FL in the street (well, I flagged her down in Urban Outfitters, but I saw her in the street) and JB at
braidsofdeath and A's housewarming/solstice party. Hopefully I'll get to catch up with them both in more extended fashion in the next month.
lula_vampiro I got to hang with for longer; we went to the
Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art, did a bit of Christmas season shopping, and finished up at a neat Tibetan/Nepalese restaurant he knew. It was pretty great to get back in touch and hopefully we can keep it that way this time.
(While we were at the Strand I was telling Lula (a bit too loudly) that I'm "kind of over Frank Miller" [this was an understatement], and some random guy nearby said, "Good for you!" in tones of sincere approval.)
- Besides the housewarming party I also got to see
braidsofdeath, A, and
reverendjmg at the Met a week prior, with pretty good Thai food afterwards. If I seem a little fixated on food, it's because so-called "ethnic" food in Switzerland is still of mixed quality, at least unless you're willing to shell out considerably more cash.
-
This necklace shall be mine, mwahahaha! I'm so excited; I've been wanting to buy from this shop for years, but never gotten around to it somehow. It hasn't actually arrived yet, but when I contacted the artists asking whether I could get this particular design in time for New Year's they were extremely friendly, helpful and prompt -- as long as the post keeps its act together I'll actually be getting it a week earlier than I was hoping, even. So far, highly recommended.
- Holidays-wise, I've finished my Christmas shopping, including ordering a buche de noel, as is tradition, for
xannoside's birthday on Saturday.
