- The farther I progress upon my self-education in how to look as awesome as possible with the least effort (aka learning about personal style and fashion, but that's so boring), the more I realize that "stylishness" is as much about how to make things that shouldn't work for you, work for you as knowing what does work for you in the first place.
- Tomato red silk shirtdress inherited from Mum, overbearingly red, frumpishly long in one dimension and unbuttonably narrow in the other? NAY
- Scarlet silk duster, light but warming and just the right length and weight to dramatically billow behind me as I walk? YAY
- Of all the places for products to be cheaper in Switzerland than in the (parts of the) US (I've lived in), I didn't expect it to be the Salvation Army. Two francs ($2.22) for a sweater in almost new condition, even a lacey cotton/acrylic mix? Really? Hey, I'm not complaining.
- I haven't decided whether I'm going to keep it as is (a nice oatmeal color) or spraypaint it all trendy-like. Since I can't wear it alone like the oversized sweater dress shown, I'm a little worried it'd rub off on whatever I wore it over. Spraypaint experts should feel free to comment.

FYSW posts of note:
- Kurt Busiek on the Spider-Marriage, and me on Busiek. After I cross-posted this to plurk an RP buddy rather astutely commented that Busiek seems hung up on following the Hero's Journey long past its expiration date for the franchise, a bit of insight I'm jealous of because it's such a concise yet meaty way to encapsulate all the problems inherent in American superhero comics' tangled relationship with their own continuity.
- Character designs for MJ (and Peter and Danny Rand) from the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon! I still mourn Spectacular Spidey, but this is looking more and more intriguing.
- I've also been running through the Spider-Island storyline, but eh. I think once that finishes I'm going to try and take a break from mainstream comics for at least a few weeks, as my own negativity is getting the best of me. It's not even that I think I'm being too negative as that I no longer have the werewithal to pick out the positive as well.
