That's gotta be, like, most of the Spider-Man comics ever published.

Yeah, but I've still got a good chunk to go - Spectacular Spidey, the rest of Web of, the Marvel Team-Ups...

Man, I rock at HTML.

how much of this is pirate booty?

As far as I know those titles are pretty undistinguished... Peter David's bit was in Spectacular. I remember Spectacular 200 seeming somewhat important, but that's probably because a) it had a shiny cover and b) I owned it.

Looking at the databases, it's amazing these books lasted at all -- Web had 5 writers and 6 pencillers in its first 12 issues! I don't understand how you can launch a book without a coherent plan for who's going to make it. And today, I suppose, you wouldn't.

It's pretty sweet to see covers by Charles Vess, though!

Oh, most, although now that the Amazing Spider-Man DVDs have been updated with the annuals, I'm buying. I also have a bunch of the Marvel Masterwork trades that Barnes and Noble releases, and of course pretty much all the recent material.

And yes, Spectacular is pretty undistinguished in the early issues. "Hilariously bad" is more accurate in some parts. Web, weirdly enough, had a more solid launch - possibly because even with the different writers they had a main storyline to launch right away, and not just the objective of, "Write a second Spider-Man title."

Charles Vess rocks my, and everyone's, world.

Well, while Spidey is fun, most of the time it's hardly cerebral reading. Most of the stuff I'm reading now is Flash Thompson mooning over Sha Shan, the Vietnamese priestessy girl with a not really very Vietnamese name.

Eh. It's over about five years. I'm sure you read way more than 250 comics a year.

I bow before your geekitude and resolutely resist the urge to do any tally of DC comics that I have read.

They add up much quicker than you'd think ... I'm not even going to try doing my DC count, no.
