Man. If you watch Beyond the Mat and read Mick Foley's books, you get a pretty good sense of exactly how demanding a professional wrestler's life is. While saddening, it's really not so surprising that so many wrestlers have been dying lately: Bam Bam Bigelow, Eddie Guerrero, Rocko Rock and Johnny Grunge of Public Enemy, Chris Candido, Mike Awesome, Sherri Martel...
If what's being said is true, I can't help but wonder if Eddie's passing had something to with it. When they showed the Eddie tribute show, Benoit was the most broken up of all the wrestlers who spoke. He and Eddie had started out in ECW together, gone on to WCW, moved to the WWE as part of the Outsiders, and wrestled so many matches together I couldn't even begin to count.
We'll probably never know why what happened turned out the way it did, but... fuck. It's just awful. Sad and awful.
