At times, like today, when I'm humming along with assignments and have a clear idea of what I want to do, writing seems like a real job. At other times, when I'm struggling, uninspired, and otherwise overwhelmed, it's borderline unbearable.
In a perfect world, I'd be able to work at the bakery 3-4 days a week from 4am-noon, come home, eat lunch, and write until 5pm. A schedule like that would allow a little more flexibility for long-term projects, blog posts that take longer than half an hour, and the like.
Of course, I completely turned down a chance to apply for the Pitch music editor position becuase of my desire to not be tied to anything Monday through Friday. The annoyance of working every other Saturday is completely mitigated by my ability to rearrange my schedule, work ahead, and clear time to do things like drive to Leavenworth to spend a day hunting records at thrift shops and antique stores, or sitting on the couch watching MST3K episodes while overindulging in coffee and doughnuts.
In other news:
How badass does War Machine look? For Christmas, I want the Adult Swim In A Box DVD set. I will keep the Pilots disc and get rid of the rest, most likely.
