Tomorrow's goings-on in the downtown area
Soooooooooo... there's a Hipster Yard Sale at 924 Kentucky starting at 6am, featuring comics, records, and all sorts of neat stuff. The Lawrence Farmer's Market opens at 7am, at the usual location on New Hampshire between 8th and 9th.
Then, there's a need to kick around downtown for a while. I suggest grabbing coffee at one of Lawrence's fine coffee shops (Z's and La Prima Tazza are my favorites) and reading the paper. AT 9am, you could hit the library and find something to read later on.
Then there's the records shops. Why?
RECORD STORE DAY & IN-STORE MAKE UP EVENT AT LOVE GARDEN:
We WERE going to have a midnight sale on April 7th, but KU Bball celebrations forced us to cancel the midnight sale. We HAD scheduled a BREEDERS cover band called "the She" aka Baby Birds Don't Drink Milk to play at the midnight sale. They've agreed to play on RECORD STORE DAY, Saturday April 19th. So at 7:30PM BABY BIRDS DON'T DRINK MILK will play a set of original songs, and at 9PM they'll play a set of BREEDERS tunes. So we'll be open until about 10pm that day. COOL!

We WILL still be an operating record shop during and after the band is playing. Yes, you can bring drinks to the store for the show, but please show restraint and civility.
So Saturday April 19th is RECORD STORE DAY. A Dude in Atlanta made it up and its gotten lots of media attention but no real direction as to what the stores are to do with it. So we're going to have one of our password sales. More like a passphraze sale. And you'll have to buy a 50 cent pin and wear it while you are in the store.
You've got to say:
"My favorite Love Garden cat is ERNIE."
Then you've got to buy an Ernie pin for 50 Cents and wear it. Its best if you buy the pin as you enter the store so you can wear the Ernie pin while you are shopping. If you already have an Ernie pin, you can wear it instead of buying one. If we run out of Ernie pins, you can buy one of Cayenne's pins.

Ernie is a very shy cat that lives at Love Garden and few have seen him besides staff and very persistent customers that want to see ALL the cats. He's been living here for 2 years and he's finally starting to show some interest in coming out of his hiding places. We want to shower him with positive vibes to help him along in his quest to be social.
It should be noted that there are a whole bunch of FREE things and LIMITED releases that become available on RECORD STORE DAY. A Vampire Weekend 7", a Columbia/Sony Records LP sampler, a Beggars Group/Matador sampler, a Teenagers 3x7", a Josh Ritter CD, and more that I can't think of right now because I was thinking so hard about the sale pricing. Maybe the GNARLS BARKLEY "the Odd Couple" LPs will be in that day. Maybe a Stephen Malkmus 10" record too.
