"Why is it that when I'm nice to guys they think I'm flirting with them?"
They secretly wish that you were flirting with them.
"Also, why can straight-seeming dudes hit on whoever they please in weird ways, call it "just a joke", and then everything is fine."
I've had precisely this disturbing experience. A certain "straight" sophomore at duPont Manual High School once decided he would grab my crotch as he walked by me. When I inquired, rather forcefully, about it, he responded that "it's a straight guy thing." Clearly.
"I don't know, I'm just sort of tired of Louisville. People can be exclusive whether or not they mean to, and I feel like there is no analysis of any of the things I just copied and pasted . . . white privilege, male privilege (ugh), and straight privilege. Apparently when I bring this up though, I'm just pulling the "gay card" as it were. Lately I really need a community and not just a crowd . . ."
I feel for you. I'm really starting to hate this city, especially living in the [one of the many] suburban area(s). It's an unfortunate circumstance at best. But I'd imagine that it's not just those locations... the whole city is really kind of tiring me as well.
"I suppose I'm just going to settle for a few close friends and call it a day."
That's a brilliant idea. I'd be honored to be one of them.
