What Is Skaiabound?

Jan 20, 2011 15:34

Incomplete post. Will contain an explanation of the musebox, tentative idea for how it will be run, and a couple o' rules.

What is Skaiabound?

Skaiabound is a private, invite-only musebox based on the webcomic Homestuck. Here sessions of the game Sburb (or Sgrub) will be played out with characters from various fandoms.

This musebox is meant to be a place where people can play out a continuous roleplay in which their characters participate in a sessions of Sburb/Sgrub without being quite as pressed as they would be in a regular game which requires activity checks and demands quick replies. Given how the game works, it would also be unfeasible to play it with many players.

So to conclude, it is a loose and fun musebox that has continuity.

How is it used?

As you can see, this community is incredibly new and it has yet to be put to the test. As I imagine it, it will be used for several sessions. Each session will be its own story and contain its own characters. For now there will only be one session, the first one to see how things will operate but I hope that down the line once the first is complete that others may start up. This way people who missed their chance to participate in the first round can have their own chance to play.

As far as how sessions will be conducted, the community will serve as both the network and the log community. Tags will be implemented to label pesterchum chats, logs, and the characters contained within them. It will be a freeform game in which people will be allowed to create their own plots within the overarching goals of the game. The OOC community, skaiaboundooc is the perfect place to meet the others in your sessions and plot things with them.

How are tags used?

There will be a tag for each session to keep them separated, log and pesterchum, and one for each character.

How can I join?

skaiabound is an invite-only musebox. To join you must be invited for a session by someone already in the musebox. This is to keep it from growing too rapidly, and creating too large a waiting list for participation in game sessions. If you are familiar with Homestuck you will know how difficult it would be to have anything over 20 characters in one session, so they must all be kept small.

Are there rules?

What I want to stress most about this musebox is that it is very laid back and undemanding. I want it to be fun. I think most of the things that games usually have as rules such as not harassing or discriminating against your fellows, no godmoding, IC=/=OOC is common sense, and common courtesy. So beyond that I will say no. If I feel someone is stepping out of line or causing wank, however, I will address it. Please do not bring it to that.
