okay, so how should i start this?
well, i'm back from seattle, and holy shit.
it was the best two days of my life, no joke.
i'll say it right now- I MET TED LEO.
I GOT TO HANG OUT WITH HIM.
!!!!!!!
but i'll try and start from the beginning.
so we get there monday morning, and i'm all excited.
seattle is GORGEOUS. i was head over heels the minute we arrived.
after we checked into the hotel, dad and i hit downtown.
SO COOL.
i went to hot topic, lolz.
i bought shirts and a hoodie :B
my dad was talking to the guy there about like boon dock saints (he got my brother a boon dock hoodie) and canada, haha.
annnd...man, we went shoe shopping and my dad got some clothes.
took lots of pictures.
LOTS OF HILLS. so cool.
i got sick that night, so my dad went out in the cold to get me some pepto bismol.
thanks dad :)
but i got a call on my cell when my dad was out, and the area code was like 804 or 803, or something close to that.
so i was like wtf? and i answered, and this guy was like "ohh...uh, is nick there?"
and i was pretty confused, so i said no and gave him my dad's number (which didn't work cuz my dad's phone is broken).
i asked my dad about the guy, and he said he was just some dude named jason in vancouver who wanted him to do a job for him back in calgary.
i didn't think anything of it.
soooo.
SECOND DAY!
more walking, not as much shoppin'.
that night, i was gonna see ted. I WAS ALL EXCITED~
we went on the space needle checked out the pike market, and walked allll around downtown, and took pictures and made dumb jokes. went back to the hotel to rest for the show.
sooooo.
SKIP FORWARD A BIT:
we head down to the showbox, and there's already a pretty big line.
my dad was like "well, let's go down to the doors"
and i wasn't too sure about that, cause we can't just skip the whole line man.
but we sat down at a table and waited-
when this guy in a suit comes out from the bar next to the showbox.
and my dad gets up to shake his hand wtf
and turns around and goes
"so krista, do you know who this is?"
"uhhm, no..."
"i'm jason, ted leo's tour manager. i can take you back stage to meet him if you like."
SLKJFS:DLJFSDF!!
my face was like
"O:"
i was totally floored, and my dad was laughing.
turns out my mom had emailed ted a couple weeks prior and told him that i was coming to seattle to see him play, and asked if he would mind meeting with me.
so they set up this whole elaborate plan for me to meet him SLDJFSF!!
and we go backstage, and ted's standing there with chris (the drummer)
and he's like
"hey, krista! nice to meet you!"
and i kind of just giggled and said nice to meet you too and shook their hands.
so he sat me down and we started talking, about what i don't even remember- i was in shock, haha.
SO. AMAZING.
and then ted's like
"hey we got some scarves, do you want one?"
and i'm like "yeah!"
so he goes to grab one, comes back with it and also A HOODIE LKSDJF.
and he gives it to me, FOR FREE.
a gift for my birthday!
so i get him to sign my punk planet magazine (the issue with him on the cover) and we keep talkin'.
we talk about 'dirty old town', soccer, and a whole lot of other awesome stuff.
he's just the coolest guy i've ever met. so nice and down to earth, and so kind.
genuinely awesome man.
its a half hour till the show starts so we gotta go, but i get a hug from ted before i leave and he tells me to write him an email sometime, haha.
sooooo back outside, i'm all shaking and giggly and totally shocked.
i call my mom to say thank you, because she's the one who started the whole thing and i love her a lot.
love of diagrams come out and start playing, and they're awesome.
i run off to go buy some merch while i still can, and as i was getting a shirt, jason comes over to the table and tells the guy "don't let her pay anything. she's a friend of ours, she came all the way from calgary!"
LSKJFSDLFKJ.
so i got a shirt and a bag, FREE.
HOLY SHIT.
jason is made of win and awesome.
i buy a love of diagrams CD, thank jason for being so cool, and run back to my dad, all gleeful like.
so i'm dancing to some love of diagrams, when their set is over.
a few minutes later TED COMES OUT KLSJFLKS:JF
i've been waiting YEARS FOR THIS.
so he starts with sons of cain, i believe, and totally fucking rocks it.
i danced and sang along to every song.
i can't remember all the songs he played or in the order he did it, but from what i DO remember:
sons of cain
me and mia
where have all the rude boys gone
biomusicology
walking to do
timorous me
bomb.repeat.bomb.
counting down the hours
the angel's share
little dawn
old souls know
colleen
bottle of bucky
annunciation day/born on christmas day
army bound
the lost brigade
the unwanted things
AWESOME, AMIRITE!?
yeah, i'm right.
but he finishes up the night with rapport's testament: i never gave up
and everyone goes NUTS.
fuck, I GO NUTS!
it was the best way to end the best day of my LIFE.
so after the show, i go to find jason and thank him once again for the awesome night, and that he's officially the coolest tour manager EVER.
we go back to the hotel, i reminisce, go home the next day and for the next few days all i can think about is the concert.
wheeeeew.
that took a lot of energy, haha.
seriously though, that made my entire year. that was the best experience EVER.
to meet your hero? there's nothing like it, at all.
i'll upload my pictures eventually, but my computer is being a dick right now.
i just had to write about the best two days of my life.
