Last night was the Blue Oyster Cult concert, and it totally kicked my ass. I thought it would be, you know, great and fun and all that, but I didn't know it would be FUCKIN' INCREDIBLE. Everything about it was just spectacular, from opening to encore. They played all of my favorite songs (save Cities on Flame and Flaming Telepaths, but who gives a SHIT?!) and every one was perfect. They ARE the ultimate jam band, and Buck Dharma is GOD. He's the most phenomenal guitarist I have ever seen or heard, and we all had the privilege to share the same room with him and the rest of BOC that night. Buck would solo for like 10 minutes on one song, with just the most melodic and fuckin' awesome leads that my young ears have ever witnessed. It. Was. THE BEST.
Highlights: The Red and the Black, Burnin' For You, I Love the Night, Joan Crawford, Astronomy (LONGEST AND MOST UNBELIEVABLE JAM), Godzilla (HUGE jams, and fuckin' craziest bass solo and a crazy drum solo following), and pretty much every other song that I didn't recognize.
Went to school the next day (today) and Mr. Muilenberg (CP Marine Science) saw my shirt and said "That's the Blue Oyster Cult logo!" and I thought "Holy crap, ANOTHER band this man likes that I do." Guy's friggin' awesome.
GOD WHAT A SHOW. BOC!!!
