so tonight, I decided to give the dogs the pork pan to lick the residue since I knew it would make them super happy. Normally they can share something like that because it is big enough for them each to have their own "end" of the dish. Well, not tonight. they were both happily licking the dish then, dog fight! it wasn't very long, I sent them to their crates and picked up the dish and then went to check them.
Brigid was fine.
Kale was bleeding from his mouth. A lot. I looked him over and he had a bottom tooth sticking straight out from the gum (ouch!) and a rip in the gum below the tooth. I cleaned the blood best I could without hurting him more and while I was doing that I touched the tooth and it seemed a little loose but I didn't want to just wiggle it out in case there was other damage I couldn't see.
So, in the car and off to the vet to let them handle it. (the vet is ~20 minutes away)
The whole way there he is licking his front legs and kind of "smacking" his lips, cause I'm sure it felt weird and it hurt.
So I get off the freeway and at the first stoplight I look over at him and I don't see the tooth sticking out... So I stop at a gas station with good lighting and check him over and sure enough, the tooth is gone. I check the seat, the floor, between the seats - no sign of a tooth. and I check him and he is not bleeding anymore and there seems to be no other damage. and he is looking at me like "I like car rides! Where are we going!? is there chicken there!?"
So back home we went and now he is totally normal. I guess he probably swallowed the tooth? or it is in my car somewhere and the car wash people will find it... ew
Glad he is ok and glad of the saving $2-300
