OK so this entry is entirely dedicated to my trip to Wales last weekend. Its gonna be long, so if you feel like hearing about my adventure weekend, i say scroll down! If not then...whatever.
So we left on friday afternoon. We got on the train and of course everyone brought alcohol. It sounds shady, but theres no open bottle policy in this country so people walk around with booze all the time. So the first train we took was a 3 hour trip. Most of us drank the whole time. Holly the fashion major did my makeup all crazy smokey-eyed and stuff so i looked uber sexy. So that was fun. When we switched trains our singing teacher Joan was there (because she lives in Wales) and she gave us boxes of chocolates and cookies to take with us. It was so nice! So we took another hour long train ride (all in all a 4 1/2 hour trip) and we finally got there! We road one of the those bus vans to the Lodge. I got to sit shotty which was nice cuz i got to look out the front window at the millions of stars while everyone sat int he back. Now the way Wales is set up, first they have NO street lights so when its night...its NIGHT, and second, since it rains all the time, everything is GREEN and BIG so picture all the roads in wales to be like one narrow long and windy road with HUGE hedges and trees on either side of the street. The trees and bushes were so big and close to the street it looked like we were driving through a tunnel. Amazing. So we got to the lodge and they had waiting for us Home Made Vegtable Lasangea (sp?) fucking so good. I almost passed out it was so delicious, and then they gave us warm apple pie and ice cream. The 10 girls shared one room but it was ok, there were like 5 bunk beds. They had a loft bed that me tess and Flori claimed so we got to sleep up on the ceiling this weekend. :-)
So In the morning (Saturday) they woke us up around 830, we went down had breakfast and then got dropped off for our hike. Now when we signed up for the hike we just figured it would be an easy 1 or 2 miles. Nope. it was an 8 and a half mile long hike. Holy shit. It was long but really cool. We hiked along the coast on the cliff tops the whole time. The path was on the edge of the mountains. It was beautiful to see the cliffs in the distance with crashing waves. It was incredibly surreal. We hiked through farm land, we saw cows and we had to walk through a field of sheep to get to a point. So funny. We were walking through a field and we saw about 4 horses in the distance, and Emma (whod had been on the trip before becuase she works at the LDA) told us we could pet them. So me tessa alex and max stayed for like 20 minutes playing with the HUMUNGUS dark dark brown horses. The were gorgeous. There was a baby one and 3 adult ones. The boy one was kinda annoying, and he got kinda turned on half way through our visit so we stayed away from him. The rest of the hike included sitting on cliffs, Laying in the thick thick grass, walking the beach, almost falls down the steep mountains, and letting the crazy wind blow us around. All in all it was a thumbs up experience.
So we got back around 1 and they fed us the most fucking delicious chicken soup i have ever had. I thought of caitlin and how she is also a big soup fan and how much she would love it.
So then we strapped up to go coasteering. Now people who dont knwo what coasteering is, its basically doing scary almost kill yourself things along the coast of the ocean. So we put on our wetsuits, and shorts, and helmet, and life jackets and the other 10 things we had to wear and went to the beach. What we pretty much did was climb along the rocks trying to make sure the waves didnt pick us up and cary us away. (It was a particularly windy day) We would hold on to rocks then swim a couple meters to another rock and basically make our way around the coast of the beach. We saw seals, which were so cute. Then we swam to this lagoon. and they taught us how to jump off cliffs. Yup, cliff jumping. So first we practiced on this 8ftone then we made out way over the 15 foot cliff. Now im kinda scared of heights but i HAD to do this. So after almost shitting myself on the 15 foot one they decided to go to the 30ft one. I jumped off (we got pictures with an under water camera) and i must say i have never felt so scared and more liberated in my life. I felt my entire body go weightless when i jumped off. It was fucking insane. so that was coasterring.
That night we had dinner and then Vikki and Emma (who work at the LDA) decided we MUST go to this pub down the street. What we didnt know is that we had to walk a mile, in the PITCH BLACK to get there. We couldnt see our hands in front of our faces. There were no houses for the whole road so we couldnt see anything. But we went and stayed for a bit, then me Tessa and Flori dedided to leave. We thought we would be fine but then we got to a fork int he road and we had no clue where to go, so we turned around and walked back a little and found max and alex who knew their way. It was so scary. I was petrified. We were walking in a dark place in the middle of NOWHERE in wales, with very little clue on where we were going, and we had been drinking. We were walking and me and alex heard a cough from the bushes and freaked out. It turns out it was a field of cows....cows cough...didnt know that. So we made it home and safe, and im alive, but i really felt like i wa sin a horror movie and was about to be chopped up.
The next day was surfing!! I was pumped. It was only 6 of us which was sweet cuz all the other groups were like 15 people. It was me tess and DJ, then josh max and tara (friends from the LDA) and the waves were HUGE, i thought i would be good cuz ive surfed before but the waves were so big and the rip tide was so stronge i almost drowned. Well nto really, but i got really tired. I caught one good wave and felt really cool at the beginning but then i could barely get up on my board after that. It was so different but so fun. So now i can say ive surfed in Hawaii and Wales :-) :-)
So after that we packed up and headed home which took longer than getting there. But we made it!
I had one of the best weekends of my life and all i thought about there was how much i wanted to share this experience with my friends and family. I wish all of you were there. Especially Caitlin Emily and Kathryn, you guys would have had a blast and miss you even more now becuase of it. I really wish i could bring my parents too, theyve done so much for me and i cant even explain how much i appreciate it. They deserve it more than me.
Well for whoever read that entry, i hope you didnt get too bored. PEACE OUT.
