Anjoli and I went to Brooklyn, NY with our youth group for a mission trip and got back at 3-3:30ish last night/morning. It was a great trip and here are some highlights. I copied and pasted this whole thing from my MySpace blog
here because I don't feel like retyping everything Lol...
"I got home from the Brooklyn mission trip with my youth group last night/this morning at 3:00-3:30am-ish. And Rebekah came over after because she lives like really far away and it would have been annoying and awful if her parents had to come all the way to H-Town to get her at 3am Lol. Yeah so anyway, here's some of what went on during the trip:
*A 4-5 hour trip there turning into an almost TEN hour trip!
*A 7-8ish hour trip home.
*Hangin' with Chel-C, Botox/Ty Ty, Chia, Carrot, Anjoliwi, J-Butt, Warden/Babe, Kaitlynnn, Diego, Pablo, Bill-ish, Justin, Two Tents, etc etc etc.
*Painted handprints on my garbage bag dress butt.
*Tic Tac Toe on the walls.
*Making up silly vocabulary words. Faux, posh, fe-RO-tious, and some others that I forgot Lol. One word for each day that we all remembered to think of a word Lol.
*Nailing almost 3500 nails in the upstairs floor, and more than that in the downstairs but I didn't do the nailing in the downstairs so that doesn't matter Lol. I nailed sooo many nails and we all were in pain but it was fun listening to Andrea scream every time she hit her thumb Lol. Aand I'll be soo ready for NYC '07 St. Louis-- Habitat for Humanity here I come!
*Laying floor tile (that is such a fun job!!).
*Attempting to cut tile for the access panels (love ya Chels, but we are not good at that are we? Haha).
*Scraping and bleach-washing immense amounts of a plethora of mold on walls and ceilings. Stinky and really gross Lol.
*Paint in my hair (that paint will NEVER come out, it's stillllll there!!).
*Thinking up nicknames for everyone.
*Taking a transit metro train thing to Times Square. Mucho fun. And Times Square is. A. Mazing. Wow.
*Riding the Subway. Wow, that was fun too! But the poles, gross, you can just feel how germy and gros they are. That's for what Lysol spray and hand sanitizer are gooood. You get to transfer subway trains, look at blinking lights, and avoid people pushing you in front of the train haha.
*Being on Wall Street, feeling more like I'd get mugged there than I felt in Times Square or Brooklyn.
*New roof on back building. I didn't do that, the experienced guys did, but it was still awesome :).
*Avoiding being tackled by street purse/sunglasses/watch sellers who try to knock you over to get you to buy something and, coincidentally are always looking in all directions...for whom? Hmmm, I wonder...Cops perhaps??
*Frequent bathroom stops for Pastor Andrea...haha.
*Anjoli leaving her cell phone at the beach, me calling it, someone answering in a different language eventually talking to me in English, meeting that person and the...like 10...other people who managed to fit in their little minivan, at the Freeport transit train station to get the phone back. She is soo lucky those nice people brought it back.
*Hanging Ruffles with floss above the table, to his death.
*Riding the Mammoth River waterpark ride 4-5 times after being told that first time would be our last ride...heh. Then trying to flip it over. Then a staff member telling us we could ride one last time if we got there in 30 seconds. Then racing to the entrance to get there, passing another group, and getting there just in time because that other group didn't get into the ride that last time (although those people did get chased around the park trying to jump out of that ride once...)....hahahahaaaa.
*Cleaning, painting, getting a door on the office for the Pastor at that church (Brooklyn Macedonian Nazarene church).
*Pulling weeds that were so deep and heavy they could have been mini trees. Mini tree weeds.
*"Dealing" more than 35 over-the-counter drugs to team members. Advil/Ibuprofen...Advil Migraine...Tylenol/Acetaminophen...
*Conversing with the lady in the Planet Hollywood bathroom, who tells you which stall to use, pumps your soap for you, and hands you paper towels.
*Katt's caffeine rush...and then crash.
*Learning all the Brooklyn lingo from the local teens, haha fun tiomees.
*Tyrone. Messed up creepy scary guy. 'nough said.
*Statue of Liberty.
*Seeing Ground Zero's site.
*Seeing the Trump Building, which is located at 40 Wall Street. It's huge and cool. Didn't go inside but it still was cool because it was teh Trump Building! Lol.
*Like 3 or 4 people falling asleep during devotion one night.
*Getting a new revelation on the whole twin thing.
*Decorating the parsonage with streamers and band-aids for Justin's birthday.
*The ladies at the church making us a whole lunch twice one day. The one was late and they felt badly so they made another one(which was the first one) and thenn 1/2 an hour or an hour later the second one was made and there. And we had to eat whole plates both times because they'd feel hurt if we didn't...
*Trying to get paint off of hands with paint stripper. Not a good idea to not read labels of substances before using it. Anjoli, Tyler, and Chelsea were in pain. And the sink was plugged so we had to scoop the stuff out and dump it into the toilet. And we used paper bowls. Did y ou know pain stripper eats paper bowls?
*Kicking a chair instead of J-Butt. Bad aim. That's painful Lol.
*Being unable to throw a mini apple on the concrete to break it. It just bounced. But it seemed as though everyone else could break it. AND it seemed like I was trying hardest. :-(
*Observing baseball with a child plastic golf club and mini apples.
*Giving Brooklyn Macedonian church a new car battery for one of their church vans and now it can run :-D
*Chia(Bekah)'s sunburn. Ouchy Lol."
I love you all! Byes :)
