I'll probably finish the book now. How sad! I almost don't want to finish it now! :( It's so final. This is the last Harry Potter post regarding the books I will ever make! The finality of something like this when it's been with me for almost 8 years is such a sad thing to think about, (I wasn't aware of the books until 1999--two years after the first book was published). Yes, it's a book. Big deal. What is it about fiction that enables it to attach a little bit of itself onto a little bit of you, only to consume a bigger part later on? That's why we have favorite books, artwork, movies, etc.: We can see a bit of ourselves in those pieces. Harry's story, like many others I've read, seems familiar even though I have never ever been in situations as grim as he's been in. But I think that's why I like him so much. I don't know what I would do or where I would be without my parents, or my friends--if I would even have the same friends. His story makes me appreciate what I have. I know I'm getting rather philosophical and thinking things too much. I tend to do that. XD
But to all those people who decide they won't read the story for whatever reason: Too bad, because you're missing a great one. Never in the history of the world has there been a book (or series), with exception to the Bible I suppose, that compels more people to ignore everything in their lives to read. These days it's an extraordinarily rare thing with the dominance of technology in our daily lives. Even then from a real-world, "financial/business" point of view, never has there been a book that has been sold at such a high demand or under such security in such a short amount of time. Each of these books broke a record, and now it's going to be gone. You can't tell me there is going to be another rush to the bookstores like this. If it happens, it's not going to be easy.
Well, I've babbled enough.
Oh man, the real story behind Ariana is so sad! Ugh, stupid Ministry. Another reason to hate them.
I love Neville. Especially after seeing his picture on Chapter 29. XDD I've got a bad feeling about so many students getting involved to help Harry. I have a feeling Neville's in danger. ;_; I'm torn now about whether Harry should have allowed the others to help him. I mean on one hand help and trust seem to be the way to go, considering Voldemort despises it and Harry is stronger with his friends and those who will unite with him; but on the other hand it allows other people to get killed when they could have just walked away. AAH! XD
More adoration for McGonagall!! Woo! Way to live up to your House! *boogies* Snape's escape from Hogwarts was almost comical. XD Especially with the description of a "Snape-shaped hole in the window", like something out of a cartoon. *dies* But I'm absolutely loving how everyone in the school has more balls than the rest of the wizarding world. Just goes to show how awesome teachers are. *whistles* And I seriously want to draw the image I have in my head of McGonagall leading the three Heads of House, running after Snape shouting "COWARD!!" (p.599 - for my own reference later XD) She does a lot of running here. XD I want to draw her yelling "Charge!" after an army of desks she's mobilized. XD (p.644)
Fleur cracks me up too, with her attempt to break up the tension when Percy arrives in the Room of Requirement and she asks Lupin how Teddy is doing. XDD And I love how Fred is so easy to forgive Percy after calling him what he is. XD Another reason that solidifies my adoration for the twins, haha!
The Battle of Hogwarts chapter is definitely one of my favorite chapters in the book. XD I love how casually Ron and Hermione talk about the Chamber of Secrets now while holding basilisk fangs. XD And Ron imitating Harry's Parselmouth!! Classic! And then Ron saying Hermione should destroy the cup since "she hasn't had the pleasure yet", followed by "so what's new with you?" *cracks up* Neville's grandmother is a tough old bat. I love it. XD
LMAO!!! Oh my god, the dramatic first kiss moment between Ron and Hermione while Harry looks on annoyed. (p.625). I am SO drawing that. "OI! There's a war going on here!!" Ahahaha, oh man, I really REALLY hope they include that in the movie.
Holy hell, I can't believe Harry saved Malfoy. I love that Ron yelled out "IF WE DIE FOR THEM, I'LL KILL YOU, HARRY!" *dies*
AAAAAH!!! NO, FRED!!! *CRIES* WHY??!! Rowling is ruthless!! WTH?! ;_;
Malfoy is a little weenie. Both of them are, but Draco especially. XD I mean, it's not like I didn't expect him to be, but I love that he gets punched by Ron while under the Cloak and called a two-faced bastard. LMAO, man I love Ron. He makes having a dirty mouth seem extremely comical and fun. XD (Aside: I can't believe the language Rowling used, but then again, she never said it was a children's book. I can hear the maniacal censoring parents now... "Your book taught my innocent child to say 'effing' and 'bastard' and 'slut'!" *dies*)
I knew Snape was going to die. He had to die after killing Dumbledore. But now, wth, the Elder Wand belongs to Voldemort. O_O
NOOO!!! REMUS AND TONKS!! ;_; OMG, why the hell is Rowling killing off all my favorite characters?!? YOU CAN'T HAVE RON, YOU COW!! *shakes fist*
OMG, the Prince's Tale chapter... AAH! Harry's gonna die! ;_; Why?! Oh man, I want a loophole; a brilliant loophole! But wait, didn't JKR say that Harry wasn't a Horcrux... that must mean Dumbledore was mistaken! Maybe he doesn't have to die! AAAH!!! *READS*
I have to say I feel sorry for Snape... and Lily and James too. Imagine: A kid's arrogance and bullying led to this hatred between Snape and James. If James had been kinder to Snape perhaps Voldemort would have never found them. The Potters wouldn't have had to use Pettigrew as their Secret-Keeper; they could have used Snape and he would have died protecting his friends. I'm sure the Potters would have found a way to kill Voldemort. Funny how the smallest of actions have a snowball effect. James's arrogance and badgering of Snape ripped apart his family and killed them in the end.
Oh my God, that bit where Harry sees the ghosts of his friends and family after getting the Resurrection Stone... that is so amazingly heart-wrenching!! ;_; And Harry presenting himself to the Death Eaters in the forest in front of Hagrid, omg. Just like that. Poof. You know what, though? I love the parallel between him taking off the cloak and giving himself away to the Death Eaters to the way the third brother took off his cloak to walk with Death.
How sad. I'm now on the next-to-last chapter, not counting the epilogue. This is ridiculously bittersweet.
Okay, so after Voldemort non-kills Harry and Harry goes into non-Wizard heaven and walks with dead Dumbledore... talk about a parallel to the prodigal son. XD It's Harry Christ and he's taking a walk with God-Dumbledore in the clouds... and I'm guessing it's Voldemort's nasty alien-like soul that's writhing on the ground like that. Ew. XD
"It is a curious thing, Harry, but perhaps those who are best suited to power are those who have never sought it." -- Hmm, too true.
AAH! Last chapter! Before the epilogue, I mean...
Again, I love Neville. He's become so amazingly brave. Oh, and kickass Neville for pulling out Gryffindor's sword from the Sorting Hat while it's on fire!! Dayum! Ahahah.
I'm just posting this from the IM I have going on. I'm too lazy:
Sk8y: harry's "death" has united all of the wizarding world against the death eaters
Sk8y: kids, your lesson today is "befriend absolutely everything and everyone you see; they may be able to win the wars to end all wars someday".
OMG MRS. WEASLEY JUST CALLED BELLA A BITCH, OH YES SHE DID!!! AHAAHAH!! GO MRS. WEASLEY!! KICK HER ASS!! There is no better woman in the world to kick that ho's ass. *BOOGIES* That is the best line in the entire book, perhaps even the series. Holy shit, they SO have to include that. "NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH!" AAAAAAAAAAAAAHAAHAHAHA
Wow, I can't believe how perfect the ending is. It just all fits so well!! How can anyone weave such an amazingly and logically complicated plot together like that?! No wonder it took her so long. Holy crap. YAY I love that Harry lives because he has all the Hallows without even realizing it!! It would have sucked if he were a tragic hero who had to succumb to death, but you know... Harry is seriously Jesus Christ now. XD He didn't even have to wait 3 days to come back, he did it in like 3 minutes. XD
Harry's extremely lucky that he had a picture of Dumbledore there to talk to. I mean, talk about being able to talk to the dead! Actually, he even had closure with God-Dumbledore.
Ooh, 19 years later... So he's like 36 and it's 2016. Ooh, we're looking into the near-future now. ;) Holy crap, I'll be 32. That's 9 years from now!! O_O Hey, a grown-up Harry with three kids! Way to keep up the tradition, Ginny. XD Aww, their kids' names are James, Albus SEVERUS (*dies laughing*) and Lily! That's so amazingly saccharine, what the crap, ahaha. Omg, and Ron and Hermione's kids' names: Rose and Hugo. They should be banned from having any more kids because their kids' names suck. XD And Ron has his driver's license now! Aww!! This is seriously amusing me to no end. HAAHAHA SCORPIUS?!!?! That kid's going to have a hard life with that name. Somehow I knew Neville would be a Professor at Hogwarts... but I would have thought he would have been Headmaster! Oh well, I suppose it's too soon having it be only 19 years later. XD These people have done a horrible job giving names to all their kids.
So if I did my math right, assuming that James is in his 2nd year, Harry and Ginny had their first kid when he was 24 and she was 23. Holy crap, how old were they when they married?! XD I'm starting to feel like an old maid again.
Aw man, I'm done with Harry Potter. No more Harry Potter ever. ;_; This is such a ridiculously bittersweet moment, and yes I'm being repetitive, but seriously!! Okay, I love the book. LOVE IT!!
