Fear of getting stuck sucks. That's why I went crazy before graduation (seriously, I was intense) with declarations like "I'll live in a box before i live at home." Over the top, but it worked, I guess. Before I landed my job I planned to move to DC without one (and 2 months rent) and just hunt one down.

Working in the service industry for a while isn't bad, as long as you're getting involved in other stuff that interests you. It seems like a bunch of people nowadays take dickaround time for a year (ex., you get more time to skate) and then get a way better job (such was a case for a guy I knew who went on to consulting after a year in his rents' basement. Getting his MBA now).

Anyway, that probably doesn't help at all, but when I hear these cases I always end up thinking that saving for a few months and then moving are good options. Cause at least then you're in the city, even if you have another temporary service job there. At least in DC, if you're commuting from waaaay out in the burbs with your rents, it severely limits your networking capabilities.

yeah i'm just afraid of waking up at 28 and still living with the rents and working at the bee's. i think this feeling will be over once i go back to school :D
