I have worked 36 straight days since I've been in Chicago and have not gotten a single day off. Even the night I went to visit DePauw, I only got to stay for 12 hours because I had to go to work the next morning.
I really wish I could update everything that is going on, it would make my entries all the more interesting. I'll just say that Sunday I bought 7 dollars worth of taco bell. And then proceeded to eat it in my bed and sleep in its remains.
Anyways, work has been good. All I mainly do is deliver yard signs and recruit volunteers. I have two offices I have to go out to and work from so I get to be in a different setting every so often. They are located in the 48th and 49th ward democratic campaign offices which is the rogers park and Loyola university area. Last week was interesting, I had to give a presentation to a group of college students to try and recruit them to volunteer for the campaign. I felt old giving my spiel to the college dems at loyola, realizing I wasn't one of them anymore (I was also really nervous until I saw they were a bunch of freshmen). But hey, like everyone has been telling me, there's always grad school.
Also I was able to call up the mayor of Evanston on accident and recruited her as a volunteer. What can I say, I have a knack for this.
Some other interesting news, a decapitated man with a bag of bombs was found in Evanston, the city where I live right now. I was wondering why there were cops on every street as Northwestern students try to move in. I thought they were just being overprotected over their nerds.
Things I need to accomplish before I leave this lovely city
Ride the L once
Stop getting kicked out of bars
This post is kind of boring, but one last thing. I just found out I got an intern to work/help me out. I'm going to need to practice not calling him intern to his face. That would just be too farcical.
Anyways I'm starting on the third and final book for Hunger Games. I heard not so good things about it, but then again how can you not?
Anyways the longer I am living here in Chicago, the more I realize...it's perhaps not for me. I like it because of the fact that all my college buddies are here and I can see them a ton butttt...I like driving without looking for parking for 30 freaking minutes. I like eating at Chili's ( i haven't seen any here). I like the warm weather of Oklahoma and how it's not freaking 64 degrees in September. I like not having to take a taxi cab. I like 15 minutes worth of traffic instead of an hour. I perhaps change my mind about Chicago tomorrow. I know I just need to learn how to use public transportation and maybe see more of the city. But so far I'm a bigger fan of Indiana and Oklahoma.
