Dear Angela,
My fake soccer fan (that I love you for). I just read this. Regarding your response about people being riled up about the refs and their bad calls - that's not what the problem was. Of couse humans make mistakes, but that's that the technology is for! Every other sport in the world has adopted it because it's impossible for the human eye to detect and judge every thing that happens during games. The point that people were pissed off over was that the referess DON'T WANT to use the technology. Their argument was that soccer has been judged like this ever since it's been played, and so it should remain like this. A little backward don't you think? The fact that the technology that is available points our what the human eye can't, is why it should be used. Fifa and the referees need to recognize and admit their mistakes, which they won't. And that's why everyone was freaking out. I understand that their trying to keep the sport traditional and consistent to the way it used to be, but it isn't going to work out very well if the world starts seeing the countless errors they made. It's really as simple as them realizing that their mistakes can change the outcome (which it undoubtedly did) of the entire tournament, and for the most part, it isn't right.
