Lot's of fun today, I just got back from seeing Alton Brown in a traveling cooking show. He's a great guy to see in person, one of the few personalities I have ever met who really seems to appreciate his fans. The first time I saw him at a book signing he took the time to walk the line before hand and greet people; as well as introducing himself and asking a little bit about every person who brought a copy of one of his books to be signed.
Today was not much different -- he played the crowd well during his cooking demonstration (beef jerkey -- made with a fan and a couple of furnace filters :) ) and once again took the time to shake everyones hand and talk to them a bit during the "meet & greet". He also said he would stay there long enough to get through the whole line, a line that looked as long when I left as when I first got into it.
For those of you who haven't heard of Alton, check out his web site at
www.altonbrown.com. Or, better yet, turn on Food TV and look for his show "Good Eats". It's a cooking show for geeks like myself, he's the only cook I've ever seen who talks about the "whys" of cooking rather than just spitting out recipies. Not to mention being one of the more interesting things on TV!
Oh, one last thing before I have to run -- tune into NBC on the 31 at (I believe) 9pm. You'll be able to catch the first episode of Father Of The Pride -- a TV series from the studio that brought you Shrek, Antz, and Shrek 2! I haven't see the premiere episode yet, so I'll be watching right along with you!
