Last night, I was watching TV (specifically "Now" on PBS) And they had the author of Slaughterhouse 5 on. I can't remember his name for the life of me, but he was pitching his new book, and talking about the state of the world at which point he said the following which I thought amazing:
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Doesn't exactly sound like the Republican party's platform, does it?
That was great... it was a really good episode of Now. of course Now is good regardless. Besides, you've got to appreciate a man in his mid 80's saying on national tv that he's going to sue Big Tobacco because on their packages they have a promise to kill him, and they havn't done so yet.
