Thanks again for the messages, prayers, and good thoughts. They mean a lot.
It seems Anthony had another case of strep throat. Something about the strep causing swelling of the pericardial sac. This is the same thing that happened last February. Thankfully, he was rushed to the hospital when he first felt the chest pains instead of waiting hours like last time. Don't know if there was much additional damage done to his heart, though.
When I was twelve I had strep. The pain was so intense it made me cry. How Ant managed to stand it without complaining or seeing the doctor is beyond me. After last time you'd think he would know enough to get immediate treatment. Antibiotics and rest and we wouldn't be talking another heart attack.
Anyway, he's home. Anthony needs to take it easy, of course. And quit the smoking and late nights and all the stuff that twenty-somethings love to do. The 'no smoking' thing will be hardest for him. He tried last time and failed. I wish there were something we could do as a family to help him, but my sister is a smoker and has been for decades. She's tried to quit three different times in the past year via the patch, nicotine candy, and hypnosis, none of which worked. So having another smoker around is going to make it that much more difficult for Anthony to succeed. I've never smoked and can't imagine what it must be like to have that addiction, so I won't be much help. All I can do is hope.
