Title: What am I Supposed to Say When I'm All Choked Up and You're Ok.
Fandom: Super Junior
Rating: eh, PG
Pairing: Hanchul
Summary: Hankyung leaves :(
A/N: I usually don't like to do emo ones, but lately, Super Junior has been slowly eating my soul, so here's a sad one.
It had finally hit Heechul. He sat in the middle of the dark ominous kitchen. Alone. Helpless. He had spoken of leaving before, but never had any conviction been present. It had only ever been when Heechul had gone just a bit too far. Been a bit too cruel. He had always said it with an empty expression. Heechul never thought that it would happen at all not to mention so abruptly.
Heechul dropped his head to his hands as he peered into a black abyss through his fingers. His hair fell around his eyes and made it even harder to see. But he didn’t want to see anything anyway. He sat there and attempted to let it sink in. It didn’t.
It was dark outside, so dark he could sense that a storm was imminent. Not just a cute sun shower. A severe, devastating one was on the way. The wind was blowing wildly, leaves from trees scattering in all directions. Suddenly, Heechul’s focus changed. He saw someone familiar. Hankyung looked back with a vicious glare, one that Heechul had never seen before. It didn’t even seem to look right on his face. Hankyung never felt that much rage. Did he? Hankyung turned around abruptly, expression unchanging and began to hasten down the path. Heechul couldn’t help but reach out as Hankyung got farther and farther away. Heechul kept envisioning the glare Hankyung gave him, as he was shot into reality. He awoke with a muffled scream clutching at the blankets around him. He didn’t know how he got into his bed, their bed. He didn’t even remember moving from the kitchen. He faintly remembers mumbling something to Donghae. Maybe he helped him to bed. As he slowly looked around he saw that the weather reflected his dream and he accepted that as a very bad omen.
Later on, after Heechul eventually realized he needed to eat something, he got up out of bed. As he wandered towards the living room, he played reflexively with the ring on his finger. He froze as he realized it meant nothing now. He took it off and tossed it towards the bedroom, unconsciously hoping to find it later. Donghae was in the middle of the living room floor legs crossed gazing at the television. When he heard Heechul, he bounced up onto his feet and ran to give him a hug.
“Sorry, hyung.”
“Yeah, yeah.” Heechul groaned as he shook off Donghae.
Donghae then ran into the kitchen and grabbed some chocopies. He ripped open the box and handed one to Heechul.
“Here, this is all the food we have left. The aliens ate the rest.”
All Heechul could do was grab it out of Donghae’s hand. He didn’t want to hurt him, but he had the sudden urge to yell at him. Thank whoever that he didn’t have the strength to yell. He stuffed the chocopie into his mouth and sunk down into the couch.
Somehow, Donghae knew not to speak of what had happened. He just sat contently next to Heechul on the couch and watched the television, while always aware of Heechul and any move he made.
Against his better judgment, Donghae left Heechul to get food. Heechul was left alone. Heechul had not moved since he had sunk onto the couch, and there he sat in the dark. The only light came from the streetlights and the television. Heechul had finally had enough of the noise, and turned off the television. As time passed everything in the room stayed the same. It was unnervingly still. Quiet. Dark. And even though he tried to push the thoughts of that day as far away as he could, they came flooding back to him. He was really gone. He left. Hankyung. *********************************************************
Hankyung had walked into the apartment looking visibly exhausted. He kicked off his black boots passed Heechul in the living room and wandered into the kitchen for some water. Heechul was hunched over in his chair fooling around on his computer, taking selcas like always.
“Yah, Hankyung! Come here!”
When Hankyung didn’t answer right away, Heechul got up and went into the kitchen. He wrapped his arms around Hankyung’s waist and rested his head on Hankyung’s shoulder.
“What’s the matter, babe?”
Hankyung became stiff. He paused, then took a sip of his water. He stared endlessly into the cabinets searching for the right wording like it would be written across the front. There was no easy way to say what he needed to say. Heechul looked up at Hankyung questioning the odd behavior. Hankyung took a deep breath and let the detestable news fall from his parted lips.
“I’m leaving.”
Heechul jumped slightly, in shock at what had just been said.
“I filed a lawsuit against SM and it probably isn’t going to turn out well.” Hankyung continued in a quiet tone of voice.
Heechul released Hankyung and stepped back. He backed away like a child that had just been betrayed. How could Hankyung do this to him? How could he betray him just like that? He shook his head slightly, an expression of horror on his face. He was stopped when he backed into the unmovable cabinets sitting behind him.
Hankyung turned slowly as he caught a glimpse of that and bit his lip viciously. Heechul opened his mouth, but the words just didn’t come out. Instead a high pitched noise pushed its way out of his throat. He grabbed at his neck and tried again, horror still present on his face. Heechul’s thoughts were going too fast. His sentences became broken, but the message was clear enough, “But, I mean, you’ll still be with us right? You can’t. Well, if you need to leave Super Junior…still…with me…” Heechul's voice shook unnaturally.
“Heechul. I’m leaving. I have no idea what is going to happen, but it isn't going to be good. I am not going to stay and watch things fall apart. Especially you.” Hankyung said with a harsh tone. Pain was present in his face, but Heechul was caught too off guard to catch the inconsistency.
Heechul caved and fell to the ground. He never thought he could be that attached to anyone. He was wrong. His whole chest hurt. His whole body hurt. This was not possible.
Hankyung saw the damage that he had caused and decided it was time to leave. He cautiously walked over to the crumpled mess on the floor that was Heechul. Hankyung softly grasped Heechul’s head and tilted it upward. He bent and closed the gap between them, touching their lips for the last time. Heechul sat there motionless.
“Goodbye,…” Hankyung choked
Hankyung wandered towards the bedroom to gather his things. He paused just outside the kitchen.
“My love,” he whispered. The words forced their way out of his lips as if they had a life of their own. When he was finished packing, Heechul was still on the floor in the kitchen. Hankyung coudn't bear to see Heechul like that and rushed to the door before his emotions overflowed. The door clicked with finality behind him.
He never returned.
