Mass Effect, released recently for the PC, has a lovely little feature that only gives 3 installations, much like some serial numbers to some operating systems. The difference here, is that the operating systems have a number you can call to get your serial number to work again, and Mass effect stops after the three initial tries. That's it. EA has responded to questions about what to do after the three attempts are gone with the suggestion to buy a new copy of Mass Effect.
This is borderline criminal. I, personally, am going to pirate my copy of Spore (and every other EA title I'm interested in) when it releases, because EA is going to use this same system with all of their future releases. If EA wants to treat customers like shit, then I'm not paying them for their games anymore.
