Ok, so I'm not all procrastination and lollipops. I have actually been doing some work. And in the process, I rediscovered one of my favourite quotes from one of my favourite writers on corpulence - the fabulous
Hanne Blanke in her awesome book Big Big Love:
What makes a relationship or a sexual act ‘queer’ is not so much what it is but who does it. ‘Queer’ sex is sex that involves ‘queer’ people, ‘weird’ people, people who are ‘not supposed to’ be sexual or deserve love and desire according to mainstream standards and expectations … Fat people, regardless of their gender or orientation, are ‘not supposed to’ be sexy, ‘not supposed to’ be sexual … Similarly, people who are attracted to fat partners are seen as ‘abnormal,’ as odd and unsettling … If we think about what it really means to be ‘queer,’ any sex involving a fat person is by definition ‘queer,’ no matter what the genders of the partners involved.
Yeah. In case some of you didn't already know you were queer :-P
