Being friends with Tony Stark since childhood would inspire both insecurity and a driven attitude to match that in anyone, and Jan's no exception. While otherwise she might have been happy as a B average student who blended into the background, instead Jan was pulled to the forefront of, well, everything.
Started college the fall after she turned sixteen.
Now, almost twenty-two, is halfway through her molecular biology Master's degree and has one year left in both her BA in fashion and BS in physics. Plans to ~take it easy~ after finishing those three programs next spring and then just do her Master's in theoretical physics in a year and a half, then do both her doctorates in molecular biology and theoretical physics at the same time -- hopefully done by 28!

Jan decided when she was fourteen and already covering for Tony as he hooked up with random girls that she would only have sex with someone she was in love with.
Jan has never been in love.
She's not necessarily ashamed of being a virgin, but she does NOT advertise the fact.
And, anyway, she's done other things. Well... she's jerked off plenty of guys and gotten fingered by a fair amount, but nothing further than that. She's a kiss slut, though, and is happy to finish a guy off as needed. She doesn't want to be a tease, after all.
When she was fifteen, Jan accidentally shrank. At first she thought she was dreaming: she had, after all, just re-read Alice in Wonderland. Unfortunately, she was wrong.
Jan struggled with being a mutant as well as learning to control her powers. It wasn't as if she could go to some mutant academy: the curriculum at all the ones she looked into were so slow and so ...combat-focused. And, of course, that would necessitate telling everyone she knew that she was a mutant.
